  2. Behave please, no parlez.
  3. Surely this should read "Impending retirement means that I need to play all my basses all day every day"
  4. My solution to connecting a wall wart to a pedalboard was to cable tie a DC extension lead to the jack-jack lead running from the pedalboard to the amp, both leads the same length, which at least meant there weren't multiple leads from the region of the amp to the pedalboard. The posher version had the leads inside a length of braided tubing. If you want to go down the mains lead route, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355321478106 looks like a good bet, again with a polarity reverser. Probably kettle lead type though it may be cloverleaf.
  5. Well thats bonkers. I wouldn't buy one, but I always do enjoy when a signature instrument is a genuine "built for this one person" effort so I can appreciate it.
  6. ^^^ what this man said. A Squier CV is more than "good enough" for practicing and gigging, so we really need to know why it isn't floating your boat.
  7. For sale is my Rockboard Quad 4.1 pedlaboard fitted with the Rockboard Mod 1 patchy bay. Used this as my pedalboard for the last 5 years and it has been great, very light but sturdy and very easy to build a good pedalboard with. It's covered in velcro that can of course be removed. Also included is a Pedaltrain gig bag that came with the Pedaltrain that I recently bought. There is a small hole in the case which I've pictured and doesn't include the shoulder strap but other than that it's never been used. This could probably be stitched or glued back together... not that I'm an arts and crafts expert though! It just happens to fit the rockboard Quad 1 perfectly so thought I would list it as one whole thing.
  8. Awful I feel like tearing someone's house down
  9. Summer Holloway - Cliff and the Shads
  10. Looks like a Candy Apple Red Stingray @kwmlondon. If it's the case, I know someone desperately looking for one (not me).
  11. I'm not dead set on a specific set-up really, just something that will work. I currently have to connect the wall wart type supply to the power block under the board. Some kind of module on the side of the board would be more convenient. And yes, the orange connector is centre negative.
  12. For sale is a set of EMG J Jazz Bass pickups for 4 string bass. Comes with the solderless controls and wiring kit. Doesn't include the Jazz control plate sorry, using this just to keep it all together safely for the moment. I think I threw the box away but can package them securely and all instructions are available from the EMG website. Had these in my Jazz Bass for a year and saw very little use as I tend to gig mainly 5 string and precision basses. Decided I wanted to change back to passive pickups, so these are up for sale. Great sounding pickups and completely noiseless!
  13. Would a wall wart like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356130082559 and a polarity reversing 5.5/2.5mm female to 5.5/2.1mm adaptor do, or must it be a module that takes an IEC lead? If it has to take an IEC lead then a laptop power supply like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/277262161493 with a polarity reversing adapter? I'm assuming that the orange connector is centre negative, if not then you don't need the polarity reversal.
  14. PS - can also do you a pickup ring with a thumb rest designed for the Steinberger Spirit, which I think might well fit your Hohner. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1434657-steinberger-spirit-humbucker-with-thumb-rest?from=search
  15. ***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  16. For sale is my Truetone 1Spot CS7 Great power supply in very good condition (just a slight scratch on the yellow paint) complete with box, mounting kit and all the various cables. Reason for sale is that I bought a CIOKS SOL for my Quad Cortex which I then obviously I sold but it still fits my needs better than the CS7 so needs to go! £110 ono delivered

  17. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:812666 If you'd like the base plate from this lot, I'll print you one.
  18. My wife suggested that, then clapped her hands and said "so I need a 3D printer, you see". She recently changed jobs and is missing her old gigantic workshop with its CNC machines, panel saws and room of 3D printers. I think that would probably be the smart idea, but I'd prefer to get this done in less time than it takes to decide on a model of 3D printer, buy one, make up the STL for the part, print it, etc.
  19. How about sticking a 3d printed base under it?
  20. I have had such a hard time selling this bass. It was my first decent 5 string and I don't play it any more and the interest i've had with offers are no good to me. I'm seriously considering the thought of having it embedded in acrylic to make an actual coffee table bass. I'd take the electronics out of it as they can be used in a non alembic bass. An alternative is what I have done many times in the past when tormented by the idea of selling an instrument or gear that I no longer use but have become attached to, Which is give it away to a young musician. I did that with some mesa boogie gear. I have someone in mind who is a young bassist that I have become a big fan of. But I don't know if they even like alembics so I won't mention it here in case they are a member and I change my mind. Ha. .
  21. For sale is the neck from my Limelight Precision Bass Relic Neck with mid 60s Fender Logo, clay dots, and Rosewood fingerboard. Frets in very good condition. I, mid lock-down decided I didn't like the feel of the nitro on the neck and so rubbed it down and then heavily oxidised the wood and waxed it, removed the plastic side dots and put in some clay. I believe the neck is an Allparts because the neck that I replaced it with was an Allparts, that was identical in shape and feel. I discovered that it didn't actually look too far removed from the neck on my actual 1964 p bass. Why did I change the neck? Because I was never too blow away by the Limelight relic job on the neck and the chap that does all the work on my basses does incredible refinishing and relics so decided to let him do his magic on a new neck. Looking for £150 delivered ONO Great neck for a vintage type bitsa project or if you wanted to strip the neck back and put in better side dots.
  22. There's a really interesting Carol Kaye interview online which I've dipped into before. Near the beginning, Carol talks about how she had to work on her groove and placement when she first switched over to bass from guitar. She borrowed a metronome technique from her Jazz playing, where she set the metronome to beats 2 and 4 and worked on her groove this way. So does this actually work? I delve into this concept in my latest lesson, featuring part of the Carol Kaye interview and dissecting this technique and the exercise that she demonstrates. This could be the perfect way for you to work on your own 'pocket' and groove playing.
  23. I know, I realised it was the wrong one - but it wouldn’t let me delete it😟😟🙈🙈
