    I've always wondered about and been interested in the Barts. Classic or Original? It may seem a bit crazy to put in some pickups that cost the same as the bass, but I've had these Lollars in a drawer for a few years but never used them. Forgot about them to be honest. I was having a house tidy and discovered enough good P bass bits from here and there knocking around to warrant buying a cheapy to put them all on. It was either that or sell all the bits. Glad I kept them. Turned out to be a fun little project!

    To be fair nearly all the Chinese necks and bodies I have had have been top notch. Considering that a lot of brand’s budget end guitars…Epiphones, Squires and Ibanez are now/have been made in China so the quality has really shot up as the work force are more skilled and the advent of cheaper CNC machines.

    Oooooo that's pretty - it's exactly the same pattern as mine shape wise - quite broad in the bum with fairly sharp C bouts ... lovely shape. My somewhat crowded music corner ... behind the Les Paul is my Promethean bass amp - and under my guitar amp (the tweed Peavey) is my 2x12 extension bass cab

    Yeah that's what I mean, so I'm really surprised the competitive price wasn't based on moving lots of units and they're this uncommon. Lovely basses, I always looked at as a bit of a middle finger to EBMM for never giving Flea a sig bass!

    All joking aside, on a visit to Maruszczyk some years ago, I tried out a Fendery-shaped bass with 3 p-bass pups on it. It wasn’t pretty, but all the tone-shaping variety of an active bass within a passive set-up. Lovely.

    I think ‘relative’, for me, is the key here as the prices for US gear has gone up so much over the past 3-5 years. But it was always priced well for the spec I thought with the quartersawn neck and electrics. Just my opinion.
