To be fair to Guitar Guitar, they do offer that on certain instruments too. -
Kripke started following Sandberg Basses with aged finishes
-
Hi, I very recently bought a Sandberg Florence bass on Reverb. It has what is referred to on the Sandberg website as a "soft aged" finish. The body has what I was expecting, which is small dents and dings on front, back and sides. However, (as per the photo) there is also a 6-7cm long curved scratch close to the tone control. It looks to me a bit like damage done after it left the factory, rather than a deliberately manufactured flaw in the finish. I queried with the seller but they're insisting it's part of the aged finish. I've also emailed Sandberg, but I've not so far had any response. Can anyone else with a Sandberg that has an aged finish tell me if scratches like this are typical for a new bass?

BassAdder60 started following Stacking 210 cabs vs 410

I am aware of the situation of a single 410 cab and having the four speakers layout but what is the improvement if any of stacking two 210 cabs ( horizontally) where the two sets of speakers are further apart than in a single 410 box if that makes sense ? see image as example and in my case both tweeters would be off im aware that vertically stacking is better

I suppose the first thing to do ,is to post on the local next door website and check local crack converters etc. -
Yeah it’s an ‘82. With the slim line Grover tuners too which I didn’t know they still put on . It’s definitely showing signs of wear, but for a bass the same as me it’s aged better 🤣

Tony bought some strings from me and was an absolute pleasure throughout. Instant payment, great communications and he kindly took the time to let me know they arrived safely and that all was good!

As it's a fiver, and as I mentioned, it's named XB 500. That said, it's a quite common bass and without a serial number or a distinctive sign, it will be very hard to prove ownership... ☹️

I have the very same head and I'm a big fan of it. I keep toying with the idea of moving it on but every time I gig with it, I'm super happy. Its punchy and the tone shaping is versatile but even running it flat sounds great. I've also tried the MarkBass Little Mark Tube 800 and that sounded really nice as well.

Anderton’s also have them back in stock in time for Christmas!

Possibly Walnut? Paul Boyer's book mentions that Walnut was available in matt and gloss finishes up to 1985.

I reckon so. A quick search suggests that it is a Washburn Bantam XB-400.

Very dull and thuddy; no resonance to it. It would fit an old school set fine, but the other 3 strings had more life and presence than an old school set. So one could hear the change in timbre as one crossed strings to and from it, which was very off putting. -
Agree that it doesn't look like a FireGlo, my guess would be an AutumnGlo as suggested, but that is a guess. Looks like an early/mid-80's 4003 with the split scratch plate, but it looks like it's in fantastic condition. Enjoy!

Curiosity got the better of me and I bought a set of the extra lights. The G, D and A strings were fine, in fact rather nice, but the E string was like it was from a completely different set of strings, which made the set unplayable. I complained, genuinely believing that the E string had not been made right, it simply couldn't have been intentional. I was sent another set. Same problem. Maybe played in a certain way, and EQ'd in a particular way, they would be ok, but to me that is not how a set of strings should be - there should be cross string consistency full stop. I have put my TI Flats back on. -
Just bought some strings from David ,it was an absolute pleasure to deal with him, great communication and quick delivery, top man, thank you very much, Tony
