  2. Is there a Big Stan album devoted to the DB? If not, which album has the most DB on it?
  3. I don't know who originally made it but I've had it a couple of years and added a Thunderbird neck. It's had a Rickenbacker 5 string pickup, so will need re-routing for another shape. Has a KiOgan wiring loom and the cavities have copper conductive tape. Paint job - not good - Halfords finest put on too quickly and not sanded down. Top is finished with a vinyl wrap (which doesn't hide the paint inconsistencies underneath). Great if you want that 'Rat' look.

  4. Yamaha RBX5 A2. I love lightweight basses, and I thought the light up knobs would look the part in my live electronica band… but it just sounded really lacking in both lows and mids and I could never get it to sit right in the mix, not matter I did with amp EQ. Add to that a few rough fret edges and the plastic-like coating get a bit sticky when the sweat and beer started flowing… overall, it wasn’t good. Bonus mention to the Warwick Rockbass Vampyre. I didn’t buy it, but I did win it in a competition… played it twice and had to sell it. It felt bloody horrid to hold, and even worse when you tried to sit down with it.
  5. Those TI rounds are a treat to play!
  6. I hope that my main technical challenge/goal as a bassist is to make the band sound better, which can mean playing less, playing quieter, and playing simpler, the reward is the way the band and audience respond. As a BL once said to me, we don’t really notice what you’re playing but we do notice when you stop.
  7. It's born for funk and rock music! Thanks to the ramp and 35 scale it manages to maintain a relatively low action and can be played also with a... "physical finge style"!

  10. Hey Mark, Rob always said that the 18V pre had more headroom.
  11. Yep! Well, mine deserves a bath (riden just a few hours ago, and already found may cats on the seats). 2300cc is the engine size yes. Monster power bike - Monster power bass!
  12. Mark King at Fairfield Hall last night. Mark bass all the way. Little Mark Vintage 1000 head, Standard 104HR cabs, and a small unobtrusive pedal board 😜

  13. I now have said 12 string and this is now £400.
  14. Indeed it is the same, I messaged the previous owner to confirm.
  15. It allows the reader to savour the content. Like a good wine, posts should have room to breathe. The edited by line is in bold type and draws the eye away from the content by being too close. Heeheehee. It's a minor annoyance. It's easy enough to add extra space at the time of posting.
  16. Bob bought a mixer off me, super quick payment, excellent communication - definitely recommend, deal with confidence. Thanks Bob!
  17. I felt I had to share this as it surprised me: I have a sire P5 with TI flats and just bought a fender American pro 2 precision bass which I put TI round wounds on. Both are 4 string. I was struggling with the sound on the fender + rounds a bit weak and just not there. I read how people don’t like the V2 pups on this bass and was considering returning it. But then I swapped the strings and put the TI flats on the fender. Immediately I was blown away there was that classic p bass growl the difference was amazing. It seems these pups are more suited to this tone. Conversely I put the TI round wounds on the sire P5 and they sounded great with the more modern tone. It seems the P5 pups work well with both strings. But the fender pups prefer the flat TIs. I wish you could get the TI flats as low tension as the rounds as I prefer the ease of playing on the rounds.
  18. I have both and feel exactly the same. Both good OD's, with the Mojo mojo to be on the more warm/vintage side, and the Spark to be more a pedal that gives more drive but doesn't really change the fundamental tone.

  20. Well indeed, apart from the TRC I can't see what you're looking for here. But I'll throw some fuel on the T-40 parts fire... When I fitted a T-40 pickup to my DeArmond Jet Star, the pickup ring was a bit warped and sad, so I got one 3D printed using this model - fits great! If they're not bothered about originality of parts, this could get someone out of jail - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3587735
