The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

And very nice it looks too! -
I used to detest Ashdown amps until someone on here explained how the preshape function works (on when its off). Once I got to grips with that, my love affair began. I currently own two Ashdown’s, an ABM400 1x15 Neo combo that I have in a live-in flight case, and the absolutely fantastic Geezer Butler Head of Doom (that I pair with a Vanderkley 2x12). To be honest, the 1x15 combo covers most gigs as in my main band I also provide the PA (2x15” powered tops with 2x18” bass bins) with everything mic’d or D.I.’d so the backline is only really centre-fill for the front few feet of ‘audience’. The HoD comes out for bigger gigs or rare Sabbath tribute shows. Now my last SWR head has left the fold, I ‘might’ add a newer ABM EVO IV head, or even the newly announced PBM 200 as a gig-bag back up.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Great stuff!! That's energised me for our gig tonight 🙂 -
Early 2000s the music industry was almost destroyed by free file sharing led by Napster. Streaming was actually the saviour back then. There's got to be an opportunity for a streaming platform to be set up that takes only non ai content, and requires some form of validation from uploaders. Then folk can decide for themselves what they listen to. Free range vs chlorinated chicken debate. There's plenty of bands and artists with deep pockets that could spearhead this in conjunction with the US and UK Musicians Unions?

Love that he puts an insanely strong magnet on the anvil, and then can't get it off DOOH! -
JPJ started following How gigable is the MINIMARK 802 N 300?
-
Contra-opinion. So, I have gigged a TC BG250 208 successfully with an un-miked drum kit, albeit one played by a proper drummer that knows the difference between light and shade. I upgraded mine with the Fane Sovereign drivers mentioned by @Linus27 to give a 4 ohm internal load. To be honest, any volume increase is negligible. 8” cones are perfectly useable, but there is no doubt the form factor of this combo is dictated by the size of the head, not the best cab to get the most out of the cones. It will handle a low B string but you will notice the drop off in SPL. There is something very decadent about walking into a gig, amp in one hand, pedal board + accessory bag in the other, with your bass on your back. Single trip from/to the car is definitely the future 😎

The End of Tonewood ... or Tone-anything!
Gizmo replied to BassApprentice's topic in General Discussion
You jest but the lengths people will go to to try and justify "tonewood" thing is amazing, on a guitar board someone kicked off a TW debate and i posted the jim lil "air guitar" video (this one) Some guy replied that the desk was "made of wood" so that would effect the tone...i mean WTF, some people are beyond help it seems. -
Pls see Peter's response above: I'm sure he'll be able to elaborate 😊

Bought an absolutely gorgeous Stingray in Chilli Red from Thornybank. Easy transaction despite the best efforts of Parcelforce. Great communication, well packed and in superb condition. Can thoroughly recommend

I'm not sure I picked up on the ease of use aspect of the update, what has changed there? I thought it was just usable presets, but have they increased the ability to make adjustments on the pedal without the editor? Still sorely tempted to try a VIP, but I think i'll wait until 4.5 is out in the wild for a while.

That looks DEEP very nice...on the GAS list

I order a fretless Jazz b-stock from Bax a few years back...The sent a me Fretted J, no answer to my emails to try and get it sorted but when someone finally answered the phone (after 2 days of trying/being hung up on) the guy just couldn't understand what the problem was as the item code was the same it was just missing the FL (or something like that) i got them to collect it for a refund but after 10 days no refund or reply so i just connected Paypal and got my money back 10 mins later...I think they went to the wall since and got bought out/under new management but it seems they still have a stock/order/dispatch problem I've ordered a few of the Fazley tele things for my dad cheap but they all needed "a lot" of setup work (fret edge/level/polish)....TBH if your going to end up replacing the parts (if you don't have them at hand) i think you'd be better off just going for a Harley Benton.

These are great and I am only selling as I just upgraded to the BCB-90x. It’s set up with the daisy chain all in place. You just need to add your pedals and patch cables. Cut for six Boss sized pedals. Price includes UK postage. Check my feedback and buy with confidence. PayPal or bank transfer preferred.

I’m a big fan of Boss pedals and have just re-done my board. I went a bit mad recently and have a fair few that are surplus to my requirements. All are boxed (initially the OC3 was listed as unboxed but I have since found the box) and only the super overdrive has Velcro on the bottom. I would grade these as at least 9/10 in terms of condition. Prices include UK postage. Boss Octave OC3 - £85 Boss Tuner TU3 - £70 Boss Super Chorus CH1 - £75 Boss Super Overdrive - £60 Boss Bass Overdrive - £80 I looked around online and believe these are priced to sell. Check my feedback thread and buy with confidence. PayPal or balance transfer preferred.

Owned from new for around 12yrs, I bought this from Thomann and had it set up for Rockabilly. It definitely feels a step up from the entry level basses and I have used it live a lot. Most of its life has been more of feature in my living room though. The last couple of years I have been coming to terms with the fact that I need to sell it. Space is at a premium, it rarely gets used and I am of an age where the EUB seems the easier option. The specs are here Thomann link if anyone is interested. I added a pickup which has been useful - a David Gage Realist. People often call it a copper head. They’re industry standard and normally about £120 used. Mine is included with the bass at no extra cost to you. There is a tatty (by my high standards) gig bag and the strings are currently Gut-A-Like vintage ones Gut A Like strings You’ll see I added a few stickers. These should be fairly easy to remove. I’m happy to do it, or I can leave it. Equally I am happy to add more pictures. It’s currently lent against the wall in my place in Hungerford, where I am Sunday to Thursday evenings. Postage looks too hard to do so it would be a collection. I have gotten it in a Peugeot 107 before - not comfortably, so perhaps don’t bring the family if collecting!
