To add...you are flagging quite a problem in the UK. 30 years ago I was a big fan of valve amps; things like Bassman 135s were dead easy to fix and valves were still plentiful from non music suppliers. Acres of space internally with big simple components that were built to cope. I've lasted the last 10 years using GK700rbs ( s/ h value £200-250) with a class D mini amp ( MB200) in my gig bag. I think that's my philosophy, a mid value great sounding amp as a main amp and a small back up. I also dropped on some backup boards from Polar Audio on ebay. I don't know how much faith I'd have in any newly made amp given the miniature consumer grade electronics within. From having worked in a QC dept for a non music related company, I know how products are rushed onto the market prematurely.

Black leather dye, forget the make but a search should throw it up. @NancyJohnson did a post about it a few years ago and I tried it - worked a treat. -
keef71 started following Vintage V96 Reissued - Tuner issues

Hi...any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have owned the above bass for about a year but the tuners although having an ok reputation? Wilkinson's are not great, they are sticky and jump. The web says they are WJBL200...and although my bass was bought brand new, they don't appear to be quite the same. Maybe there was a supply issue at the time of manufacturing? The upshot is that I'd like to change the tuners for a decent brand, Gotoh, Schaller, Grover? if possible. My problem is when I try to find the exact footprint/ screw hole combination that fits with my bass, I can't seem to find a match. The closest I have found according to the dimensions given, is the Grover 142. it looks a fairly close fit, however the dimensions of the narrow end screw holes for the 142 are 17mm, whereas mine measure 20mm. I don't have a problem filling or drilling new holes, but I don't want any previous holes visible with the new ones fitted. It's very difficult without having a 142 to try. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution please?

I didn't have a great time with them getting my ABM 300 fixed. We got there in the end but I'd imagine you'd have more luck with current production items. This was 10 years ago. I went back to GK ( who's amps I've always preferred the sound of) and tried to have backups and scruffy donor amps for spares.

You'll need to tighten up the collar which is between the button and the body of the tuner - the bit with the two small holes in it. The bass would originally have come with a specific tool for that, but if you don't have it then you can fashion something with part of a bulldog clip. On the phone right now but I will get on the computer shortly and find exactly what I'm talking about, pictures etc.

ETS Tuning Fork Bass 5 Big (brass material) Rounded chrome, 18 mm strings spacing. Beware that the saddles were modified by a previous owner to go lower (but are working perfectly as is for standard B to G tuning, or you can interchange them to go lower on the treble side, or turn them upside down to start from fresh). The shining chrome bridge plate is new and has never been fitted, only the satin chrome saddles were modified. It can be used for stringing through the body. Check my ads. NO TRADES! NON NEGOTIABLE PRICE! Asking price including fully insured shipping with tracking number, to your home, in these European countries (ask for other countries): Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France (excluding French overseas territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom: €100 EUR (£90 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros) and, as it will be asked, the new price is around €200 and they are very hard to source. Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just send me a PM. In perfect working order and brand new condition for the plate, only the saddles have been used on a different bridge. As I've stopped playing bass and focusing on piano only, I'm selling surplus to requirement. Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! If you can stomach the poor quality of the bevel routing....Looks like something from an Aliexpress seller! @Cornwall Steve You can try Zenmarket as a 3rd parry shipper (plenty of YT reviews and How to video on importing guitars using their services) Using something like Zen can save you a few Hundred £'s over the 3rd party ebay/reverb sellers, doing so will shift the postage risk to yourself, for example using Zen and surface shipping i can get a BTB865SC laned in the UK for about £700 'ish, 3rd party reverb/ebay sellers want £700+ for the same bass without shipping/VAT/Duty inc....so buying from them would give a landed cost of about £1k...but in doing so they take the risk of it getting damaged/missing in transit...risk/reward GL
