A couple of bass players having a laugh generating some Muppet style images for no commercial gain is one thing, but the wider principle where livelihoods are threatened, yes I understand and agree with the sentiment. AI is here to stay and controls are needed because right now it's the wild west out there. Used improperly it will cause harm. But the Muppets in this thread have lifted my spirits and made me laugh. Not a bad thing IMO.

Thanks for all replies It's a buzz that swells on notes decay, definately bridge side not back buzz and seems to me to be hitting a few frets up not just the next one.... Today I put on some round wounds and played with he setup and exactly the same buzz, D n G strings between fret 3 -6/7. So completed another very carefully leveling, that seemed to show up no obvious issues from the last one. I'm settling towards this being a resonance of some sort in that area of the neck pushing some harmonic in the string .... maybe Good old Ricky's!

I was going to say take your attitude to Talkbass, but...

Congratulations. You arrogance makes any contribution you make to the debate irrelevant, as you are clearly incapable of giving anything like an objective view. Not to mention your views of amps and cabs are still in 1985, even if you gear isn't.

If you're going to soundcheck then do it properly and quickly. We play in pubs. We've played together for years. We are very familiar with our equipment. A quick line check is plenty - does it make a noise? If so then stfu 😂. It's very rare that it doesn't sound good from the start. There again we only have the vocals going through the PA. There is absolutely no need to mike up the drum kit in the Dog and Duck and spend half an hour trying to get the kick drum to take out the back wall. Keep it simple, keep it under control.

Your focusing on the practical protection for doing this rather then the principle here. Tech companies (billionaires) are using media and content that has been provided for free on the internet to train its models and effectively replace humans in the generation of creative endeavours. And charge us to do so. It may not mean much to you, but for lots of people AI will be an existential threat. In my industry it already is. This stuff is funny, but it normalises what is effectively theft. 16,000 artists against it here: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/jan/21/we-need-to-come-together-british-artists-team-up-to-fight-ai-image-generating-software 1,000 here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyd3r62kp5o.amp More here: https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2024/10/24/artists-statement-opposing-artificial-intelligence-content-scraping People against machines aren’t luddites looking to stop progress. AI (in its current forms) isn’t progress. It’s derivative rubbish.

uk_lefty started following Soundchecks - are they professional?

We do option 2, but we do it by playing a song that's not on the set list for the night. Me and the two guitars are wireless so we will wonder about to get a feeling for the sound. The singer tells everyone it's a soundcheck so if we stop abruptly to adjust something or start over again it's generally accepted.

I shan't say anything other than this post is offensive. Carefully considered offence. Especially to those of us with hearing loss or those of us that have been doing this for a long time and have evolved with many ƙinds of tech. So, what's being said here is that because I'm passionate about big valve amps, I like my hearing impairment? It's difficult to interpret this in any other way. It's a nasty vibe. Hearing loss/impairment is not a joke and ACS wasn't a thing we were aware of in 1985. It's rare that we see such a vibe on BC. The original post has the sanctimonious air to it that tries to belittle those that don't align or agree. Vile.

If you sign up for updates they are ask for your amp model, not what "valves" you are wanting.

Did a pedal trade with Jim. Awesome to deal with, all went fine! Pleasure to do business with!

What happened?

Yep, i imagine it's for exactly that reason, it gives them deniability, which at their prices and with their reputation, they should not need. Poor form

£262 for a Bart P? I could buy a Monty's P and have a semi-extravagant hour out in Cheltenham with Mr Monty himself for that money. Christmas Eve!!!

Beautiful isn't it?

You certainly avoid a misdescription that way
