Damonjames started following Boosey and Hawkes Excelsior 3/4 double bass
-
Up for sale is my boosey and hawkes excelsior 3/4 double bass. I’ll start by saying that I bought this to learn upright after being an electric player, how hard could it be right? Keeping in mind, I’m no expert on uprights, but apart from the items listed here, to me at least, this plays and sounds great and has a nice low action. I was using this to play country/americana and it fit the sound really well. it has a vic’s dual piezo pickup and adjustable bridge, strung with eurosonic ultra lite synthetic gut strings. things to note, this is an old bass built in the 70’s and has had some bumps and scrapes as I have tried to show in the pics, no serious dings or holes. The neck finish is starting to come away, but does not affect the playablility as far as I can tell. the bridge had to be modified in order to use a pickup for a gig (yes is did it your Honour) and while the bass is functional, I’d recommend getting a new one and having it professionally fitted. the pickup will require a preamp for use, I have been using a Fishman platinum plus pro eq which I also have for sale in the effects section. collection only due to size, welcome to come and try. £600

Damonjames started following Ashdown Mi bass 2.0

Ashdown mi bass 2.0. Great little 400w class D amp. I bought this (previously owned) to have as a backup amp for gigs as it’s small enough to fit in a back pack. will come in a repurposed drill hard case which serves its purpose. has some scuff, but works as it should. £100 collected from Warrington, I’d need to check postage if required but would imagine somewhere in the £10-15 range.

Two nights, two gigs. Had some mega-feedback from the double bass so emergency jumper was called in to sort it out.

Factory Special Run commissioned by Guitar Centre in USA from Fender Mexico. 12 of these basses made it to the UK in 2012, 6 Sea Foam Pearl, 6 Black. I've owned this bass from new, done hundreds of gigs with it and never thought I'd sell it. By the end of this year I will only have one bass left. Jazz neck (rumoured to be the same used on Mex Geddy's) with a bit of figuring on board. P body, BadAss 11, the Jazz pup has raised poles for A & D to follow board radius, very unusual. The bass is passive. Comes with original white plate, custom brown tortie plate & gold plastic plate that's on it. There are a few little dimples from gigging but hard to see. Gig bag included. Bass weighs 9lb 4oz. The last photo is her retirement gig 12th Sep. Apologies for the photos, I'm not good at that. COURIER. Buyer will have to organise & pay for that I'm afraid. Feedback available Collection from Darlington preferred however I may meet up within about 80 mile radius (subject to a small deposit). Thanks for looking, Karl.

As reported in a previous thread, back in 2012, I visited a relatively new Nash dealer: Westside MI in Denmark Street, London, (a shop that has sadly since disappeared, like so may of recent times). My aim was to see, feel and hear for myself just how good Nash basses were. I have to say that I came away a little underwhelmed after trying out a couple of Precisions and Jazzes. Whilst the finishes were very good, the feel was generally okay if a bit on the heavy side, but none of the basses I tried that day had the resonant sound of my two Fender Jazzes. It was an interesting visit, and I came away satisfied, in the sense that I had tried them, and could tell myself that at that time, Nash basses were probably not for me. But I have never forgotten them........... Wind forward 13 years and I have just travelled back from Bass Direct at Warwickshire, as the proud owner of a Nash 52 Precision (Butterscotch Blonde) which sounds amazing. Whilst at Bass Direct, which was my first visit, due to the distance, I received a warm welcome, with plenty of time to "try out" a number of Nash's including a PB 55, a PB 57, and a PB 63 as well as the PB 52 which I settled on. My feeling was that the Nash basses had come a long way from my trip to London back in 2012. Of all the basses I tried, I would have been more than happy to have brought home any of them with me. I settled on the 52 as it had great feel, super sound and just looks so cool. My thanks to all at Bass Direct for making the experience so good and to Bill Nash for making some superb basses. Ad Multos Annos!

Is anyone friendly with any engineers or staff working the Garage G2 venue in Glasgow, particularly engineers/tech? Have an issue following a gig on Friday night that I'm struggling to talk to anyone about who could help.

Sadly I suspect a lot of people are skint and need to pull in cash sharpish, selling a pedal collection one at a time is a PITA 😕

Its great when a good gig let alone two just give you that lift you needed. I do love a gig that just comes together and works. The energy is there, the feel is there and the audience seem to pick up on it and go with it. Nice one. 👌 Dave

Does it now sound like a bass at all?? 😂 -
Sorry to ask a daft question but my reading knowledge is quite basic and only used at home when learning songs but how does the Capo 2 or 4 affect the bass. ? I don't use a capo so my understanding of them is about zero. I only use it to set up basses. 👍 Guitarists i've played with have used them but i thought it was just to save them barring a chord. ? Hi all Always overshoot on the requirements This stuff was bought so that I have a spare set of pedals when I go back home to gig 🤓. And I bought them over COVID with the funds that I would have spent on food and coffee while commuting. We all did crazy things over that period. anyway - Radial JDI - pretty much new, can’t find the box. 175 posted. - Darkglass X Ultra boxed - 250 posted - Markbass Octaver may have the box - 75 posted - Markbass Tube Drive no box - 65 posted can do hand over at King’s Cross with some notice. Travelling to Sheffield next week too
