  3. Hi everyone, I’m new to BassChat and recently started learning bass on a Yamaha TRBX174. I’ve been practicing at home for a few months and want to improve my finger strength, speed, and timing, but I’m not sure the best way to structure my practice sessions. I’d love to get advice from more experienced players on: Finger exercises: Which drills helped you develop finger independence and strength as a beginner? Timing practice: How do you effectively practice with a metronome without getting frustrated? Practice structure: Should I focus on short technique exercises, scales, or playing along with simple songs in the early stages? Progress tips: Are there any “must-learn” exercises or routines that accelerated your early improvement? I’d appreciate any tips, routines, or examples you could share — even short practice schedules. Looking forward to learning from your experience! Thanks in advance! among us
  4. I remember them telling me that they were made by LaBella. Lots of the companies like Sadowsky that make strings "on the side" job out their own spec designs to only a few string companies as they are the only ones tooled up to make them en masse. They certainly don't sound or behave like regular LaBellas. Unless I am suffering from the placebo effect.
  5. Pardon my ignorance, but is this switchable active / passive or just active?
  6. That sounds great! I'll check them out. Thanks!
  7. I'm now taking a more serious look at the GR Bass One350 - I've got a few questions for @Hellzero or any other GR user if that's OK: - The manual doesn't mention what the actual frequencies of the Deep, Bass, Treble and Bright controls are - do you know? - Does plugging headphones in disconnect the speaker? The separate headphone volume knob makes me think that they are independent (which would be good) At the moment the cost/functionality of the One350 (separate volumes for headphones and DI output, switchable mid ranges, pure mode) all for £200 less than the Eich T300 does make it very attractive.
  8. A lot of good advice here. I just wanted to mention that it doesn't take a lot of string wear on the fingerboard to create slight buzzing. It will also depend on your attack, if you have a heavy attack you will more easily create fingerboard buzzing than if you're a light player. For me personally, with time I've changed my attack and raised my action, and also experienced a bit of fingerboard wear. So all of these do contribute. An easy check is to see if the buzzing only occur at a given frequency or if it's across the entire neck, or parts of the neck. If it's located to a given frequency it can often be something related to hardware (tuners, bridge or trussrod). Good luck
  9. Hi folks. At band rehearsal last night, (magic) smoke started coming out of the keyboard player's Nord Electro 2! Got a gig on Friday night, and we're buggered without keys Total long shot, but does anyone have a couple of 4.7nF (4n7) X2 suppressing capacitors they could send me, like today, special delivery for tomorrow? RS are the only local source I can see up here and surprise surprise, they're out of stock.
  10. In a nutshell - don't be a d!ck. If you think hotels with people in them should be set on fire, you're being a d!ck. If you think ill of people just because they're from somewhere else, you're being a d!ck. If you're one of those "keep Britain British" types, you're being a d!ck. It's pretty simple really. Gonnae no?
  11. Base coat! I have moved away from the 'punk bass' aesthetic. I've decided to gift this to my Dad once it's done, and he had a great idea which I'm rolling with. He has spent a lot of his life working inside nuclear reactors, and he's really into nuclear imagery and technology. He said that the inside of a reactor has a blue, oceanic, sci-fi glow, and that he'd like to see that on an instrument. So I'm going to experiment a little with this blue theme! Updates soonish, weather dependent.
  12. Hi Guys, I may be late to this but while looking at Vintage Fenders, considered building my own from parts I stumbled across this guy whose making them in a small village in the Rome province. They sound great in the videos and look great in the photos. Has anyone got any experience playing or own one? For the money, around £1000 they look like they could rival the likes of Limelight/Nash and the like. From what I can see Luca builds his own necks and bodies from milled wood rather than use/order in blanks.

  14. I've found over the years that the more creative an artist is, the less likely they are to be far right so luckily, I haven't often come up against many fascist type musos, especially if they're any good. However, they may be a touch lefty, but as my position on Political Compass is on the libertarian left of Tony Benn and Gandhi I'm relatively OK with that (unless they get too SWP!).
  15. No worries mate and you were right I should check. Hope all is well buddy
  16. Or sell it and get an additional Monaco 600w cab !! Awesome and a step up from BF cabs in performance so many are discovering!

  20. Would love this, these are nice. Import duties would make the total price less interesting though.
  21. The one in The Gallery is a nice thing. I tried it the other day. Thin neck, nice tone, looks the part. My reservation is that I think it might be a bit pricey for what it is. But I guess the gallery has overheads that we don't. Your shortscale will undoubtedly be nicer to play, and what with these both being quite 'thumpy' semi acoustic basses, I doubt the scale length will make any real diff to the tone. GLWTS!
  22. Nice, and apologies for getting that wrong above, good luck with the sale mate 👍
