  2. I don’t know sorry, never heard the Elf. Might be some on here that have compared. You're welcome to pop over and have a listen 😎
  3. I was lent a stagg bass in bits that had been part of someone's CDT project, so I had to assemble and set up a bass before I could play it... played it loads before I had to give it back and had been saving... we found it hidden in the back of a shop in colchester where it had been sat for years, neck like a banana. I was a kid and my dad was working in colchester so had got a lift up with him, he came and bought it... turned up in his work suit and mentioned he was an auditor and the guitar shop owner was a bit unsettled and gave us a good good price. Played it for years till I bought my first Fender Presision (Japan) and then it kinda got retired. At that stage I probably didn't appreciate what it was... I think it was about then I discovered Basschat and realised there was a bunch of folk who would buy things from me and I could use the money for other things, this got sold and I picked up my first Warwick from @warwickhunt...
  4. Best amp I’ve ever played. Can’t afford, probably don’t need, but boy I wish I could get it! GLWS
  5. I’m shortly due to get the mini version so am selling my backup full-size unit. In excellent condition, only ever used at home. This is currently on loan to @admiralchew, so I’ll ask him to post it directly to you. Note, this will come in a V3 box. Price includes free delivery via Special Delivery.
  6. Your current Celestion isn't all that bad, but the port is too short. It should be 13cm long, which will give better lows. The driver xmax is very short at only 2.5mm, which limits it to 50w before reaching the excursion limit. If you're not have an issue with distorting lows it doesn't much matter, but if you are that's the likely cause. Going to the Celestion FTR15-3070C with 5.5mm xmax would cure that. You also want to see if the cab has cross bracing and wadding inside. Fender was notorious for leaving out both.
  7. I was going to make this point too. I used to have an old Park valve head which was designed for bass but was bought off me by a guitarist who reckoned it was the beat amp he'd ever played though. I assume this is why the original Fender Bassman amps are so popular with guitarists too. GLWTS
  8. seeing it again is doing funny things to me
  9. Lovely looking bass
  10. I'll be looking for a cheap and relatively small backup bass* so will consider part exchange for something cheaper - like a SR300 for £200. *Not that I've ever felt the need for a backup bass, but my bandmates are quite insistent that I should have one!
  11. Now listed on eBay too.
  12. Now listed on eBay too.
  13. Yeah I noticed that… not sure what I can do about it to be honest….
  14. You have my attention too!... How does it compare with the TE elf rig?
  15. Seems like fake news to me as it's announced nowhere else... Or a huge scam as full payment is asked for orders... Wait and see.
  16. Hi, I’m looking to sell my Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V in black with maple neck and abalone block inlays. The controls are volume, blend, active 3 band eq, passive tone control and an active/passive switch. It takes two 9V batteries. These basses are my favourites, but I bought this as a back up for my tour rig. I currently have three of them and this one just isn’t being used really. The bass weighs approximately 4.4kg I bought this bass from Basschat in January 2024. It’s been played and toured by its previous owner and has always been fantastic and reliable whilst I’ve had it. I’ve taken it on two tours last year as a back up and have played it on a handful of shows. It’s been looked after by myself and the previous owner. There’s a couple of dings and chips on the body which I’ve attempted to photograph. I can provide more photos. It comes with the original black pickguard (I’ve placed this over the top in some of the photos) and a dark tortoise shell one which I bought to replace it because I like how they look. It also comes with the original Fender strap locks. The original Fender case has a big crack in one of the corners so I’ve replaced it with this Stagg Hardcase. If you wanted the original you can have that instead though. I’m based in Birmingham but can provide postage and packaging at the buyers expense. Thanks for looking! Michael.

  18. Hi. Music theory. Very boring until something clicks. Then you have a new tool. I am a big fan of Relative Minor. Mostly because I understand this one. Piano keyboards really help to visualise this. The method is simple. Play a major triad, wait, play a three note chord, e.g C major, made up of notes C, E & G. Then count three notes down from the root note C, you get an A. So now the chord has four notes A, C, E, G. It has a new root note A. Now it is A minor 7th. Wow. That is a complicated chord and sounds all deamy. It works for any major chord. With this you and your bass can adjust all the major chords, in all your bands songs, into dreamy minor sevenths, and the melody with still fit. You could move the vocal down three notes too and see what happens. I've used it for remixing. As soon as you play a known vocal and slam heavy bass in the relative minor, all goes dark and spooky. Now that I'm the bass guitarist, when I get in a band, I'll have a weapon to change all their songs into minor seventh remixes which I'm sure they'll really appreciate. Has anyone tried this with their band? How did it go? Next week we'll learn how when playing a minor triad, adding a new note four semitones down from the root will create a major seventh from the new root note. But I don't want to say too much yet or it will give it away.
  19. Not at £50!! By the time it's shipped, due to it's size, there will be next to nothing left. Happy to meet somewhere though within a reasonable distance to hand over.
