  1. Past hour
  2. Just tried listening to the new 20th anniverary remaster (was it really released that long ago?) of Trouble by Ray Lamontagne. The only way I can describe it compared to the original CD is that if it was a photo, it has had the colour saturation turned up to make it resemble a cartoon version of the original with all the instruments clumsily fighting for attention. Some things should be left alone. Its not that I don't like change — I really like the 2018 remix of Pink Floyd's Animals which is a joy to listen to.
  3. Hi. I’ve just had a Glockenklang 3 band put into my 2005 BB614 which I bought from Slapmonsta last Dec. He said prev owner Shepster had had the standard preamp modified to include a push/pull volume pot which pops the bass into passive mode. Apart from one older looking pot the shafts on the others look a lot newer with bright looking shafts. Spacing of the B,Mids, Treb pots on the board are 32mm and 32mm. The board says Yamaha QC87550 This is a great option because the Yamaha pickups have legendary power and passive tone. Note - there isn’t Tone control in passive mode but it’s a quality sound and you can blend the pickups for variation anyway. ** The only caveat ( which Slapmonsta kindly alerted me to ) is that with full volume in active mode , when you pull up the knob for passive the volume drops a lot BUT when you roll OFF the volume control just a little , the volume leaps back to match the full volume of active mode. ** None of us (owners) know why this is but it’s easy to roll off the volume. Priced accordingly and includes UK mainland delivery. I have another BB614/5 for sale like this ( another Glock mod ) which is Standard ( No passive ) so you might prefer that and it has the vol and blend larger knobs with it ( £30 inc delivery ). Cheers. Quent.
  4. Hi Scott funnily enough I was thinking of relisting it as I'm definitely using my Mesa gear more at present, where are you based?
  5. Hi everyone. Update June 28th. Also now for sale , same Yamaha preamp QC87550 but with push/pull Passive option on the Vol pot - thats for £40 inc deliv, please see other posting for that one. Just moving this Standard preamp on at minimal price , kindly donated by Basschatter Lloydy when I bought his Pewter Beauty not long ago. Also fits a BB615, same 32mm spacing between the shafts on the board. Full working order before Lloydy replaced it with a Glock 3 Band. I include two original larger ( 20mm high 18.3mm diam and 6mm shaft hole ) heavy chrome knobs with new O rings in each. I havent got the full 20 yr service history but the Vol Blend splined pot shafts are 5.85mm outside diam but knobs tighten up OK with allen key. ( The Bass Mid Treb splined shafts are 6.0mm ) The fixed shafts on the board are 32mm centres x 2. The securing nuts and washers are there. Jack socket too. Photo now added. One split shaft crimped up - an ill fitting push on knob I remember - the two allen keyed chrome knobs included are from another BB614 I have ( bought some of those Hipshot lightweight ones from BD - £8 each! ) . So, £30 including UK mainland postage. Apart from seeing one pot is 500k on the photos I can’t help you with any other electronic specs. Cheers. Quent

  6. for me, if I pick is because I want the click and the aggressive tone, if I pluck I want the round tone, that is the point, so I don't change anything
  7. I ordered a set each of abalone and mother of pearl oval crown stickers for my new (to me) Ian Hill Spector. The MOP suit the black gloss finish better so am passing the abalone set straight on. Unavailable in UK, had to source these from a US ebay seller. Avoid the transAtlantic hassle and lob £15 my way to upgrade your dot necked Spector!
  8. Krivo still available 👍
  9. Thanks Steve. It’s a stunning example with just the one issue needing technical expertise. Hence me expecting a techno wizz to buy it OR someone with a luthier mate to sort it gratis. It’ll be a cracker once sorted. It’s only 2 ounces more than my BB614. Cheers 👍
  10. @Quatschmacher dropping the sagely synth knowledge as always. You can effectively double the number of presets with this approach. Really helpful if needing to change sounds for different sections of a song. Madonna’s Like Prayer would be a good example of morphing between a Moogish sound for the chorus and a OC-2 sound for the verse. @Quatschmacher’s approach using an expression pedal would work well for this sort of application.
  11. Boss FV-50H high-impedance stereo volume pedal. In good condition, with original box and manual. It has velcro fitted on the underside. I can post to UK addresses, or you can collect from Chepstow. From Boss: The high-impedance FV-50H is designed to be connected before guitar effect units in the signal chain. The Minimum Volume knob lets users set minimum volume as desired. Convenient Tuner Out jack enables speedy tuning on stage.

  13. My mind is made up, this will suit my band no end and allow for more creativity. I can get rid of my Octave pedal and use this as well as some of the other presets and features. I'm sold, take my money 😆
  14. I'd be tempted to drop a preamp in that, I think this will have originally been active? An LHZ if you want to go all out but there's a used EMG BQC here: Both of those options are proper Spector-y.
  15. I can now supply a 19mm clip for XLR.
  16. Hi all Final bass on the chopping block today and the one I’m saddest about selling. This is genuinely one of the best basses I feel I have ever owned. It looks even better in person and the sound is the exact 70s Marcus Miller jazz sound in my head. Sounds amazing slapped and with fingers. There are some great demos here: So, why am I selling? Unfortunately I’m just not getting along with the wide neck, which I’m really gutted about! I have smaller hands and have always preferred 18mm spacing and 1.75” nut but thought I’d give this a go anyway… It’s similar to a Lakland or Sadowsky in feel, although slightly more playable with the 34.5” scale. I know loads of people enjoy that neck, it’s just not for me. I only bought it a few months ago, I think it’s done two gigs and very much taken care of, so would tentatively call this ‘very near mint’ condition. It’s one of the best made basses I’ve ever owned, Andrew is meticulous in his finishing of them. They cost £1619 direct from Andrew. There are no more currently in production and this was the final one Andrew had in stock so they will become hard to find and sought after. The only difference between the standard and the Jahmal Nichols versions are the gold hardware, Bartolini B Axis Pickups (imo the best hum cancelling jazz pickups you can buy) and a Bart Preamp with 3 way mid switch. Heres the spec: Alder Body Finished in Arctic White, Matching Headstock Rock Maple Neck - Bolt on Maple Fingerboard. Fingerboard radius: 20" Fingerboard binding: White Frets: 21 Frets. Scale length: 5 String - 34.5" Bartolini NTMB 3-Band Preamp. Vol active/Passive push-pull, Pickup Blend, 3 Mid centre switch, Stacked Treble/Bass, Gain Trim Pot Position Markers: Pearloid Pickups: Bartolini B-Axis Tuners: Gotoh GB350 RES-O-LITE. Lightweight tuners String Tree: Hipshot Bridge: Sung Il Monorail Saddles Tusq Nut: Width 48mm 19mm spacing at bridge D'Addario EXL165 Nickel Bass Strings 25mm Padded Gig bag weight 4.2kg Pickup from Central London or Chessington. I have the original case and box so can ship too. thanks
  17. Don’t forget that with an expression pedal you can effectively have two different presets built into one at extreme ends of the pedal travel, but also all the points in between.
  18. I can confirm that a barefaced 1x12 can handle a 5 string. I use a BBII which is great.
  19. That would be awesome Lozz, PM incoming!
  20. I've had this a couple of weeks actually, but just used it in a band setting for the first time last night. Very impressed. This one was a bargain as it was a right mess (see 'before' pic) but a bit of paint and a cleanup later, it's much better. It sounds great, and will perform its intended role of rehearsal/small gig amp perfectly. The amp it's replacing is an old Behringer 60w 1x12, which is outclassed in every way by this. Remarkably the TC is several pounds lighter than the Behringer too, despite being somewhat larger. Anyone else using a BG250 combo like this? Likes & dislikes? I have yet to play with the Toneprint thingy and to be honest I probably won't bother. It sounds fine as it is.
  21. There's some great software available for these units also for example https://www.singularsound.com/products/groove-monkee
  22. I recently bought a couple of pedals to do exactly what this pedal does. They are now for sale and if I had been paying more attention that this was due to be released then it would have saved me some minor hassle. In context we do a pretty fun set where something like the MXR is perfect. Save some presets which won’t need to be scrolled through mid song. The idea of the mini expression pedal expands the versatility but is not super necessary and an additional cost. The mini preset switch is handy and could be mounted on top of another pedal or closer to most accessible area of the pedal board. Like I mentioned I think a whole lot of people are gonna find this very handy.
  23. Yeah, it just staying in preset mode until you do a long press would make more sense to me.
  24. When I was looking at a Smart for Two car way back. I told the dealer if it could hold my bass gear, he'd get the sale. He brought the car to my house to see if my two mesa boogie cabs, bass in case and my amp could fit in the car. It did so I bought the car. 🙂
