  2. I think I had a full sheet cut into four, one is going to be a sprayt booth, I built two cabs and I have one quarter uncut, so I could make a 3rd 8" speaker OR a 6" House Jam or I could just leave it in the garage to rot away So I think 1220 x 1220 is half a 8" x 4" ft sheet so you should get two out of them. If you do cut them yourself, then I would change one or two dimensions by 2mm or so. It makes zero difference to the volume but makes cutting a little easier. There's something on this in the thread where I discussed it. Basically make the sides 276mm wide rather than 274mm wide, and the top/bottom 276mm rather than 274mm. This extra 2mm should be at the front of the cab and so the volume doesn't change but the 'lip' sticks out 2mm longer. Just easier to cut and thats the only difference. You get an extra 2mm to drop a grill in as well, but thats negligible. My second cab is cut that way from memory,
  3. Do yourself a favour - do NOT watch the episode with the "restoration" of a vintage Fender Jazz.
  4. Solid choice, but quite a jump in budget. However, that’s one you could hang on to indefinitely, a proper quality bass that (I had a 55-02 a few years back). Right then, time to break out BC’s favourite emoji…
  5. Testify! All these "just play a 5 string" types just DON'T GET IT.
  6. You Done My Brain In - Bonzos
  7. Did you buy a Dean in the end? I got a 4 string in a trade and I must say the quality, playability and sound is excellent, right up there with the Fender ( MIM) & Spector ( MIK) that I own.
  8. Operation: Mindcrime - Queensrÿche
  9. I like the colour, with its subtle sheen
  10. My last experience with active bass cabs was running two Barefaced FR800s and a Helix floor. I was never really happy with then and moved them on. I've recently jumped on to the Anagram bandwagon and despite being highly sceptical initially (given I've never kept any Darkglass product I've owned more than three months) I'm starting to appreciate how good this little unit is, so I'm thinking about active cabs again and came across the active GR Bass 212 800w cab. Now it's very pricey, been out a couple of years, but I would consider it, if the performance and quality was up to scratch. Can't find much in the way of reviews on these, which is not filling me with confidence, so just seeing if anyone here has any experience? https://www.grbass.com/portfolio/at-212-slim-800-act/
  11. Oh ! Thanks for your gentle words !
  12. I have them on several basses; they work. When tuning you do have to operate a couple of times back and forth to cover off string slackening/tightening variations. The dropped position has a small thumb-screw adjuster. There are like-for-like models for most common bass tuners (they discontinued the Ric ones, though). They are drop-in replacements for the stock tuners, but you do have to use their countersunk screws rather than the original raised-dome ones (they need to be flush-fitting for the clearance of the moving part over the base plate). When choosing, they do gold/nickel/chrome/black finishes. BTN & Allparts sell them in the UK.

  14. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  15. The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm
  16. Hi Chris, they moved the business to larger premises over Christmas and the New Year which seems to have had a knock on effect, but they should be replying to emails. The website says they haven't got a phone number for the new premises yet. I'd try email a few more times. https://barefacedaudio.com/pages/contact_us
  17. It just looks unfinished to me 👎
  18. Select a picture to open it. Tap on it twice. That opens up to more than the full screen, enabling you to use the cursor to closely inspect the pictures. They can actually be zoomed to pretty much life size. Perhaps LowEnd Lobster's demo bass has not had the rosewood nourished. The board on mine is excellent rosewood that is fully nourished. I maintain my basses in top condition as anybody who has bought from me will know.
  19. I ordered mine on the 25th November and I’m still waiting I’ve tried emailing them and trying to find a phone number but no luck bit worried barefaced are in trouble and Ive lost money i do not live locally so I can’t just pop over to see if they are in business
  20. The other pictures…
  21. Near-mint (see pix), very robust Höfner violin bass case - with key! Used once only, it has never left the house (I traded the HCT I bought it for, and the upgrade - a 500/1 Artist - came with its own case). I've pictured it with the Artist in to show how snugly everything fits. There are a couple of very minor scuffs, which I've photographed, but they're very difficult to see. The current model (this one is no longer made) costs £138 on Thomann. There's one of these on Reverb at the moment for £144. I actually paid Thomann £83 for this one, so I think this is a very fair price all round. For collection from Nottingham or I can post at buyer's cost (I probably have a suitable box, and Parcelforce would be about £10 - £15, I reckon).
  22. Like new only used once with original boxes, way too complicated for my needs. Top of the Range looper , can post or collect.
