I've recently spent a load of money on things that were just no fun at all. A new combi-boiler yesterday, car insurance the same day, and today I was off to the dentist to have a molar removed after it was damaged whilst I was getting a wisdom tooth taken out last year. I decided to spend some money on myself other than just paying these 'cost of living' charges. Well, I have been saying for a long time that I wanted a fretted jazz bass and the Flea signature model always intrigued me. I'm not a RHCP fan but the spec always sounded like the sort of thing I would enjoy and have a lot of use for. Bass Bros to the rescue. Let's hope it's as good as it looks! I bought a fretless CIJ jazz from them in October 2024 which I play all the time, so it'll be nice to have a fretted model to sit next to it.

Flats for '73 Mustang that aren't Labella
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to BassAgent's topic in Bass Guitars
I have tried several different sets of flats on my mustangs, but I am now happy with D'Addario Chromes which I have on all of them, specifically the ECB81M 32" set. They aren't as dark sounding as the LaBellas. I'd love to try Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on a mustang but EB don't make a 32" set. -
I'm won't jump ship yet Stub. I do think it would be nice to investigate dep opportunities. Thanks Stub Daryl

Lozz196 started following Sir Horace Panters “Ghost Town” Precision Auction
-
Apparently Horace Panters Fender Precision, which he used on Ghost Town, is to be auctioned, expectations are of £20,000. Bit (as in far too) rich for me I have to say, but although I was never a major Specials fan I thought his playing was fantastic.

Thanks Pete, The lack of a good drummer concerns me, but should I be worried about something out of my control at my age ? Maybe I'll stick with it. Maybe I'm overreacting to the bad gig last night. Daryl

That’s a shame, you’d expect a 700w amp to have something in the tank. I used one of the smaller Venture amps, I really liked the tone but also really had to push it, was only for stage volume too.

Clearing out a few things due to not doing much The real deal for LA-2A compression, owned this for about a year I think it was from the second or third batch (he only makes batches of 25 about every 6-8 months) Meticulously built to replicate the teletronix la-2a . Can be used as a limiter too. Very rare over here I think it's just over £1200 to buy/import one now. £875 Heres a detailed review using on bass

Column/Array systems - small band
Bill Fitzmaurice replied to andybassdoyle's topic in PA set up and use
That's how most of us ended up having the PA. Nobody else wanting to do it is also how many of us ended up playing bass. But that worked out pretty well for Macca, so we're in good company. ☺️ -
William Shatner is set to release a new album later this year, featuring a number of handpicked musicians. I've been a follower of his musical output for some time. He's done some really interesting stuff over the years (some might put that "interesting" in inverted brackets 😂), but his 2004 album Has Been is a really good album. Just purchased a preamp from Lorenz, great comms, smooth deal, bomb-proof packaging. Deal with confidence. Obviously this earns him the not-at-all-sought-after Frank Blank Seal of Approval...
