  2. Hi Guys, I may be late to this but while looking at Vintage Fenders, considered building my own from parts I stumbled across this guy whose making them in a small village in the Rome province. They sound great in the videos and look great in the photos. Has anyone got any experience playing or own one? For the money, around £1000 they look like they could rival the likes of Limelight/Nash and the like. From what I can see Luca builds his own necks and bodies from milled wood rather than use/order in blanks.
  3. I've found over the years that the more creative an artist is, the less likely they are to be far right so luckily, I haven't often come up against many fascist type musos, especially if they're any good. However, they may be a touch lefty, but as my position on Political Compass is on the libertarian left of Tony Benn and Gandhi I'm relatively OK with that (unless they get too SWP!).
  4. No worries mate and you were right I should check. Hope all is well buddy
  5. Or sell it and get an additional Monaco 600w cab !! Awesome and a step up from BF cabs in performance so many are discovering!

  9. Would love this, these are nice. Import duties would make the total price less interesting though.
  10. The one in The Gallery is a nice thing. I tried it the other day. Thin neck, nice tone, looks the part. My reservation is that I think it might be a bit pricey for what it is. But I guess the gallery has overheads that we don't. Your shortscale will undoubtedly be nicer to play, and what with these both being quite 'thumpy' semi acoustic basses, I doubt the scale length will make any real diff to the tone. GLWTS!

  19. I play professionally and I absolutely DO NOT want to hear about your personal beliefs. It is completely inappropriate. Don't even try it around me, or I will pack up my gear and storm off like Ritchie Blackmore. Time is money.
  20. Update: Took the 300 to rehearsal to check for buzz. I noticed it. Hard to tell how loud with people talking, etc. Not loud, but still there, so I think it will be gong back. But, I will take the 500 over there tomorrow to compare before sending it back. The fans on those covers a little buzz and with the 300 having no fan noise, buzz is more apparent. Also a little louder on the 300 as well. Nice sounding amp otherwise. Not a big in the lows or all around heft, but it's got knobs and sliders to fix that. Sorry about the incorrect place to post this. At another forum where I'm a regular in the States, this is where such discussion would go, so my apologies.
  21. If someone had extreme political views and talked about them alot then yes I probably would not want to spend time with them. This would apply equally to the extreme left and the extreme right. If people had views very different to me but didn't go on about their politics all the time then I probably wouldn't really mind unless they were real arseholes ( and in my opinions most Alt right and social justice warriors are). I'd also be prepared to talk to them about politics in private (occasionally) as long as the conversation remained calm and civil. What I wouldn't do is storm off in a self righteous huff at the first mention of any opinion i didnt like.
  22. If you do decide to go toroidal, this looks about right. Since it has dual primary - ie the mains side, you do need to get that right and wire for 230v (ie both primary windings in series) https://uk.farnell.com/block/rkd-120-2x30/xfmr-toroidal-120va-chassis/dp/4209599
  23. There's a certain conceit in those who want to decide on everyone's behalf what is acceptable and what isn't. (Guardian readers take note). I'd find it hard to spend a lot of time playing music with people who weren't able to tolerate my intolerance. What I find more disturbing than anyone's supposedly extreme views is the assumption by many people that benevolence and being "open-minded" is synonymous with permissiveness, letting people say, do and act as they want uncontested. Extremism and "bigotry" is then defined as anyone who doesn't concur with certain groups of people in society's idea of themselves, or anything that challenges and questions those ideas.
  24. @dagrev by any coincidence - you don’t have any pedals in chain, even if turned off/disengaged but still fed by power supply? I noticed just today that my few pedals somehow cause this sort of interference resulting in such buzz very similar to yours. I normally have my bass plugged directly into amp but it was just tonight i poked around my pedals and all of sudden got this buzz but it died as soon as i unplugged the pedal’s power supply from mains..(the power supply is a proper one, brand new, some Harley Benton for about £65 with hundreds of great reviews so i f*ck wonder now).. Will have a look at how to trace the culprit as i have few ideas why that might be.. Btw, apologies to everyone else, we should have been posting this in some ,, troubleshooting,, section..
  25. I came across a 4x12" August cab a very, very long time ago. Late '80s or so. I'm reasonably certain that the speakers were different from what I'm seeing in your cab, though. The dust caps were not metal for sure. No recollection of how it sounded whatsoever. I bought it with a truckload of other stuff, made sure it was working and moved it on for pennies... Once in a very blue moon you'll hear someone mentioning them, but they seem to be quite rare. Good luck.

  27. This is key for me. If it’s a hobby band then I’d be very particular who I mix with. If it’s my job, then my tolerance level of dreadful people has been / would have to be adjusted somewhat, in order to put food on the table. This is only the same as working anywhere else, large companies etc. Not ideal by a long shot, but an inevitable compromise nevertheless. However, for me there are still lines that need to be drawn that I don’t cross.
