  1. Past hour
  2. And? ?
  3. Just got the ESP/LTD B4JR bass in the door that I bought used Friday yesterday. It's a just 28.5" scale length short scale, with a Basswood body, and a Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard. And after a thorough setup, and having the stock pickups, which honestly sounded decent enough, for an EMG Geezer P pickup, it sounds non less than amazing. Really nice tone, both finger plucked and using a pick, and the sustain is pretty substantial too. Even the low E sounds great, despite the short scale length. It's also very light, the body being made of Basswood, which does make it prone to neck dive, but nothing a wide grapy strap can't solve. Now the bad things, when I got it it had one of the most horrible setups I ever saw, and with loose input jack socket, that was easily fixed though, however the nut slots are cut way too high, and it got some pretty sharp fret ends, that you can literally cut your hand on if you are not careful, and will probably have fixed that too at some point by a proper luthier. The thin U shaped neck will also take some getting used to, it is not exactly beefy, but it kind of feels that way, because the neck profile is so round. The frets are not perfectly leveled leveled, but still well enough that I can get it to my preferred string action (about 2mm (~5/64") low E string at 12th fret) without any issues or string buzz whatsoever. Truss rod works as it is supposed to, and neck seems stable. Tuners are not the best, but they work just fine. Here it is (excuse me for my old crappy digital camera): I got it for what equals about 30£, a deal I could simply not pass.
  4. You'd better not look in "Basses for sale" then.
  5. Another option would be to plead guilty and ask for 9000 other offences to be taken into consideration, as then he couldn't subsequently be tried for those. It's always possible that the police are keeping everything else up their sleeves to see what becomes of this case. Or alternatively they've lost all the paperwork for all the fraud cases that have been reported to them.
  6. There's TV studio footage of them in Germany with Marshall, Hi-Watt BL which seems live and he sounds exactly the same so I would imagine as with many of us he sounds the same whatever he's playing due to his bass, strings, and technique.
  7. Completely forgot to put a bit of paper in the photos. Oh well. Belatedly:
  8. This how I approached the last Tool album after hearing the first single.
  9. £50 price reduction Trades - X Touch Universal. Try me with anything, I can only say no 😁 Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

  10. I had the stereo and sold it. Regretted it and bought the mono. It really is the Swiss Army knife of amp world. I’ve got a Markbass Evo 1 to try out at the moment which basically, has the Multiamp amps and effects but has two independent channels, which is exactly what I need. I think it’s what I’ve been looking for, for a long time 😁
  11. Short version is that I’ve had QC and helix and this is much better sounding much quicker. Don’t want to comment loads on here but inbox me if want any info!
  12. Mexican P-J , my go-to gigging bass. Love it.
  13. A bit late posting but here’s the draw https://fb.watch/C2HTnT-4e_/? The Midas has now gone to its new home and we raised a huge £10890! thanks to those who supported this project
  14. A genuine rarity. A bass for the 5-string player who likes the sound of 8-strings but would like that bit of extra range. I'm thinning the herd and this one doesn't get used. I'd hang on to it if I wasn't being ruthless. Bolt-on construction, quite a chunky neck (as you'd expect), active with volume, blend, treble, and bass. The bridge allows individual intonation adjustment for each string, rather than pairs of strings as some lower-quality instruments do. Action is low. I put new strings on it when I got it and it's been used very little since then. Some small marks on the body and slight dents on the back of the neck, nothing significant though. Mahogany body and neck with oil finish, rosewood fingerboard. It's in Tamworth, close to J10 M42 - I'd prefer not to ship it, but I will travel a bit for a meet up. As this is a herd-thinning exercise, I'm not looking for swaps. Probably.
  15. Mate it sounds INSANE. Very good to work on the 2 band EQ, I've had 3EQ Stingray specials and never missed it. It is the nicest bass I've had to sell...
  16. The Trace kit is very repairable -- no sanded off IC numbers and parts you can see without having to buy a Mantis!
  17. Ha, Annie Lennox is going to be so annoyed at that.
  18. Today
  19. Captain Kirk has got a date on the Enterprise Holodeck with Nurse Chapel in his favourite romantic piano bar on Aurora Prime. However, alien microbes have got into the matrix so when Kirk goes to find Christine admiring the view from the bar's private beach he finds she's actually a bloke called Derek from Redditch... This month I've sort of followed the Baloney route, to some extent! I programmed a manic 150bpm drum track, and did a 1 take bass improvisation over the top. Then I stuck 2 tracks of piano "accompaniment" on it and 3 tracks of wah guitar noodlings. Drums programmed using Impulse pads triggering identical midi sounds from EZ Drummer (Clyde Stubblefied kit), and Ableton's Arizona and Exposed kits. Bass is Sandberg DI-ed via Focusrite (double tracked, touch of delay on 1 track). Piano is Ableton's Grand Piano, and guitar is a battered Strat with clean Helix wah and Bias FX bluesdrive. Everything is rolled in Ozone 9 and Neutron 3.
  20. Weirdly, so did mine!
  21. In the final stages of completion . Just waiting for an additional control knob to come
  22. Laney RBH800, 300 watt, bought as a beater to leave at a rehearsal space, now surplus to requirements. Works perfectly. Collection or meet up reasonable distance from Norfolk/Suffolk border.

  23. Very impressive - bet it sounds as good as it looks too. GLWTS.
  24. Yes indeedy Neeps, easily the best thing to come out of Aberdeen since Denis Law. Well done that man.
  25. Very interested in this too. The Nordstrand is a great upgrade for the Japanese pup, especially if you want more definition. The JMJ has a custom Mustang pup, wasn't this done by Seymour Duncan? It's a very P-bassy sounding pup, a bit more body than the Mustang. As far as I am aware. @DanDoesBass tell us more! 😊
  26. I've got one of their C24's (picked up second hand) and an X24 crossover and they are both great, Grant is very responsive to questions on instagram message too. He recently advised about running the X24 at 18V to match my drive pedal headroom at 18V, not understanding tech all that well, it was very much appreciated.
