  1. Past hour
  2. Happy birthday! I dunno. I’m a glass half empty kinda fella! I guess I mean things are really slowing down for me on the music side now. I’m done playing in bands, I can’t see myself ever playing live again, so it’s just home recording and teaching for me. It feels very much like retirement considering I used to manage a recording/rehearsal place too!
  3. 7 days - Craiiiiiiig Daiiiiivid
  4. This isn't the first thread we've had about Sqoeeeee basses - those Strandberg-esque headlesses provoked a bit of interest a couple of years back, if I recall. Did anyone take the plunge?
  5. I am not sure if I am following your problem here - you had this preamp working on a jazz bass, and now you want it on a P bass? Do you have a picture of the label on the preamp or an indication of what make it is (like from when you bought it) - the blend doesn't work but obviously some preamps (most?) the blend is before the preamp - the rest of it would be exactly the same as how it was originally installed. You say you want switches - for what?
  6. I’m sorry - I was sure it was shown under “tutors available” in the unread topics list
  7. Yes. I was channelling Theresa may, which is not a sentence that I ever thought I might utter
  8. Mine too — this will replace my existing firebird which is a fantastic instrument, but having grovers instead of banjo tuners has always bugged me.
  9. Fair Deal confirmed they will not be stocking anymore of these basses. Ordering direct from Nafiri will sadly result in an additional 20% VAT charge.
  10. Is it? Its where I would put it. Probably more a mod issue, they tend to do these things and know better than me!
  11. Back in the days when smoking in pubs was a thing, my old carpet-covered SWR Goliath 4x10’s used to reek of smoke, but I found it dissipated fairly quickly. Funny thing is that despite having never been an active smoker, I now find the smell of tobacco smoke to be “nostalgic”.
  12. If you can't find it, you can always steal other people's. Works for me. ...oh shit, did I say that last bit out loud?
  13. Not sure if this is even allowed so please delete if not mods! I would of course list things for sale here anyway… but… I keep seeing ads on Facebook like ‘sell your guitars’ etc. Richtone music, bax music and fat bottom guitars have been pushed to me today. has anyone had any experience of this? It says free quotes so I suppose I may as well find out what they’d offer. I’m guessing not incredible prices as they have to make money after all. It could be a quicker, less hassle way of doing things? I’ve never done it before so I figured find out from those who have
  14. Probably my favourite guitar shape of all time.
  15. I bought a piano years ago, smelled very smokey, cleaned it, still smelled, and for years you could hit some random key and get a whiff of smoke!
  16. I’ve been running a pair.of the EV ZLX15P for a good few years now, almost always coupled with a pair of old Peavey 15Pro bass bins but occasionally on their own. I run mine at +3db in most settings, and my only concern is that they run really hot by the end of a gig. I have had to replace the complete plate amp in one of mine after a problem with a venue’s electrics killed one, but otherwise they’ve been super reliable. I have recently managed to replace the Peavey’s with a pair of EV ELX18P subs, which will let me get the full use of the onboard DSP (hence why I am currently selling my dBx DriveRack) and I am looking forward to our first run out with these early in the new year.

  19. I'm interested in the 5-string headless - available from Nafiri Guitars and assorted other Asian outlets for £260 plus shipping which comes out at around £470. The 5-string Stingray copies are £214 so a tad under £400 with shipping (and I'm not sure if that includes VAT and duty). I've emailed Fair Deal to ask if they'll be getting any in. When GG had the deal with Sqoe, they didn't get any in. Can't remember if I asked them back then. Edit to add: Fairdeal do have the 5-string Jazz copy in, if not the Stingrays.
  20. The purpose of the DI box is to get a good line level signal to the desk. Check that there is no pad engaged on the DI box (unless the acoustic output is hot enough to need a pad), then check that you are getting the correct gain level at the input of the desk. If these two things are correct, then use the eq on the desk to shape the tone of the acoustic guitar. In my experience, even quality acoustics can sound harsh at the top end and bassey at the bottom when DI’d into a desk, needing an eq cut in both regions to sound nice and warm.
  21. Ive managed to find a guitar box, so delivery is now an option
  22. Ruby Tuesday — Rolling Stones
  23. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  24. The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm
  25. The ROLAND KD-8 Kick Pad is a lightweight 8-inch high-quality trigger pad designed for V Drums, featuring a solid durable metal and rubber construction. Its compact size and lightweight design make it easy to transport and store, making it a versatile option for drummers looking for a reliable and high-quality kick pad to enhance their performance. Designed to replicate the sound and feel of a traditional kick drum. Great condition: tested and in full working order. Will work with all Roland TD modules. Selling due to kit upgrade. Width: 27cm Depth: 26cm Height: 40.5cm Weight: 6 lbs 7oz Only £55. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred.
