  2. Hi again Andy, Just catching up to see if you've found 'your' amp yet and no I don't think you are being picky, you have identified your particular needs and are homing in on the best compromise. I think there may be a stumbling block though. The problem with micro amps in particular is heat. Class D amps are efficient but 200W is a lot of power and a lot of electricity still ends up as waste heat. Without a big case and lots of aluminium fins you really need forced air flow through the amp and you can't really lose the fan. I think this creates a problem if you want something to fit in a gig bag. You might need to be looking at amps with the quietest fan or one that only switches in when the amp starts to get too hot.
  3. TI flats live on my jazz and BB. They must be at least 5, maybe 10 years old now. One thing that makes a colossal difference to tone is keeping them clean, way more than any round wounds I’ve used in the past. A couple of wipe downs with fast fret with the cloth supplied and they zing back into life and feel much better. There might be a superior product to use but it works for me.
  4. Where The Streets Have No Name - U2
  5. Mike just bought a fretless from me. Great to deal with and responded very quickly.
  6. Why would it be taboo?
  7. True american legend. All maple, 1992, 4,8kg. Has a Q filter. Resonates and sustains for days.

  8. Those are becoming quite rare nowadays unfortunately. Great ergonomics and playability, relatively light. I believe this is late 90’s due to 4 knob config. Truss rod was changed to the conventional 2 way retaining the original fretboard, no headaches or horror stories here.

  15. @Chienmortbb @Pow_22 Thanks for the information. With all the talk of valve tone and the thump of class A/B power amps and the heft - there, I said it 😱 - that you get from old school amp designs like this, coupled with what I think is pretty much a give away price, I'm surprised this is still hanging around. Someone somewhere mentioned that this series of amps wasn't particularly desirable but given that they doesn't suffer from the wooly sound some folks complain of with Ashdown amps I think they're an underrated gem. But as I gig almost exclusively on IEMs these days and have a light weight amp and cab for the occasional dep gig with backline, this is sadly in the way and needs to go to a new loving home.
  16. Up The Junction - Squeeze
  17. Any update @Hobbayne? Did you go quietly, passive aggressive quietly or are you in hiding after going postal?
  18. @kodiakblair Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to explain all that. It really helps, and I truly appreciate it!
  19. I have LaBella DTB flat strings on a J bass and I could not be happier with my setup. The sound is pure vintage and the strings have been a huge help to my hands. No more blistering, no more pain, smooth fingering and no more strangling the board. I also use foam near the bridge. I don't miss round strings one bit and I will never go back.
  20. .. and in the end we'll have a '1,5 in 1' instead of 2in1, but nevertheless we're gettin' closer... what do you think of the vertical defretting from 5th fret on a 5str ? someone spoke of difficulties due to radius for the fretted, flat fretboard on the mmwah side...but i don't see the point. stupid i am? flat fretboard for both = solved ?
  21. Here are a couple that came up on FB today. They are two promo videos for the band Elizabeth Fields Collective. I joined the band after the tracks were recorded so a not playing on the tracks. Sadly the band leader passed away during covid from non covid related illness.
  22. Slide It In - Whitesnake
  23. Thanks Peter that’s very kind of you to offer. I’m based in London but I am playing up in Sheffield next month 😉

  25. I’ve had a whole raft of new ideas this week. One has been confirmed as straightforward to implement and will bring some nice improvements. Wondering if it might even make it into the next update. I’m also hoping it’ll open the door to my fleshed-out ideas for having improved patch management directly on the pedal.
  26. It tracks brilliantly. The latest version (V4) has the best tracking by far. You can do loads with just the pedal itself, many users never touch the editor. I’m pushing to revise the factory sound set to include a bunch of these classic patches in the first slots. Many of them are already available amongst the free patches I and others have shared. I’ve also fleshed out UI ideas for stuff that will allow improved patch management directly on the pedal. If you’re anywhere near Sheffield, you could try mine.
  27. @QuatschmacherI’ve never managed to have a go on the Future Impact. Not sure I’ve ever seen one in the flesh in fact. They’ve clearly got a lot going on under the hood in terms of synth architecture. Not mad keen on bass gear that may/may not need an editor though. If one does crop up on my travels I’ll be sure to have a play though; I’m intrigued as to how it responds under the fingers.
