    I try to get a balanced tone where the instrument cuts though or I get close to what was recorded. But I always favour passive basses mad strong mids.

    I have two sounds Pick playing and no band and I like the tone and immediate attack of the notes, sadly when with the band I feel the thump and full depth is lacking and in some rock songs is so noticeable. Finger style I have my full sound which fills the band / room with bass you can feel and my challenge is maintaining clarity in the notes so I’m a high mids boosted kind of sound 1.5khz approx and 500hz approx slightly boosted too Pick playing of course I’m reducing the mids and high mids and trying to recover the full depth tone which is never really present. Either way I’m a typical PBass rock tone but cleaner sounding in the main as I just dislike overdriven bass tones

    None of those things would concern me so I will be happy using as my main gigging amp. The EQ, compressor ( dual ) and pre shape feature are the details I like about it. The massive head room too is a bonus

    Thanks for everyone's help, it has been super helpful and I do really appreciate it. As a side note, my daughter has taken up bass and as a first bass, I bought her the HB Mustang and I am super impressed with quality of it, it is a really good bass for the money, in fact way better for the money than expected. So I'm going to take the plungexand buy the HB MV-5PJ. For just over £200, I cant really go wrong as a tester into the world of 5 string bass.

    Unopened, still have the cellophane wrappers. This is a 5-string set and commonly used as replacements for 40DCs in Spectors to get that PJ sound. The 40P has a reverse P inside and the 40J has a single coil J in there. I have a Euro 5 LX with the same and prefer it to a pair of DCs. I can't see myself buying another 5 anytime soon, so these need to go.

    Nope - looks like you'd need to create a separate battery compartment. Here are the basic dimensions on my bass. Body thickness = 42mm Standard cavity depth & width = 30mm deep, 22mm wide. Pots and capacitor depth from bottom of control plate = 24mm. Duracell battery = 23mm wide (wider than the standard cavity routing, and 18mm thick.

    I did pro pantomime for four years at the Sheffield Lyceum. Sometimes you’re in the main pit in front of the stage and others you’re often in a room behind the pit operating via tv monitor. Usually, only the MD/pianist can see the monitor, but the whole band is hearing the proceedings on headphones, as well as the band mix and any backing tracks to add other parts. They’re tough runs - we used to do somewhere around 56 shows, sometimes three shows a day when the school kids would arrive by the coach load on early December mornings.

    Parameter assigns are great wish more multifaceted had similar functionality. Being able to tie parameters to input level or to waveforms is very cool, especially when you want to do something a little out of the ordinary.

    Cost me about £350 back in the day and was the core of my board and IEM setup for a number of years. Essentially it’s a 2 channel mixer with a DI, balanced and unbalanced out for the bass. With a 2nd input for an IEM feed, this input is switchable mono/stereo. So basically allows you to take a really great FOH signal or utter trash. I use to take a passive feed out of the back of PA speakers. There is then a thru for you to pass this feed on to other band members and I’ll include a 4 channel Behringer Headphone mixer (that currently I can’t find the 12v adaptor for) and you have an all in one IEM solution. So you have a control for the bass volume and the feed volume. Allows as I saw above to just grab anything from FOH and you’ll always be able to hear yourself. I do the same now with my Darkglass Anagram and in a pinch Element. Open to offers and as above will chuck in the Behringer 4 ch headphone amp and 2 pairs of 🤷🏻‍♂️ KS10’s (without tips for hygiene purposes) to give you a full wired simple IEM rig for those wanting to try it all out. Can also be used as a headphone amp with a Twelve South Airfly to add Bluetooth. This was made about 15 years ago so to me is noisier than I would like and the pots can be a bit crackly, but I’ve never sprayed any switch spray in there. Just part of my never ending clearout.
