Pure Tone are great and that’s what I meant. For some reason I keep calling them True Tone. I only opened a packet the other day, doh!

Effective cooling needs turbulent airflow. That means if you have to shift lot of heat, it will be noisy unless you have huge heatsinks or heatpipes served by multiple low velocity fans.

30 W x 16 ≈ 500 W QED

My bandmates wanted a different sound to certain songs. I put an SWR Interstellar Overdrive to the Glockenklang Soul power amp in. I can say that the power amp sounds really good with another (good sounding) preamp, too.

Another gap occasioned by visiting family, holidays, and a load of gigs. Tonight I wired up the input socket, deep switch, and some connections on the preamp valves.

I want to load an EMG system into my Sterling Sub Ray 4. The pickup I want is a MMHZ model and want a three knob layout with volume, stacked bass/treble and stacked low/high mid freqencies (plus jack socket). Might seem a stupid question, but can I get an EMG onboard preamp (say a BQC) which comes with four knobs (inc a balance pot) and just leave the balance pot off? The Sub doesn't need a balance pot obviously as it's only got the one pickup. Can it be wired vol > bass/treble > mids > jack? I want to keep it as simple as possible, and I don't want to start soldering or drilling into the bass to fit a side jack. Does anyone have experience of doing this, and have you had any problems?

I had the same issue with my QC but no alternative way of powering without buying a Sol or DC7, which with the size just made me meh about it all. Anagram I’ll largely power off usb c or if it goes on a board a dc7 since I have one now. And for those thinking it’s a double standard against my issues with the qc well the anagram will fit on a nano with 2 pedals whereas the qc pretty much fills a metro16.

I tried a CAR 65 Strat that Clive Brown had restored and examined it closely. The finish was convincing. In particular, the parallel line checking that seems more prevalent in CAR than any other vintage Fender finish was replicated perfectly. It was indistinguishable from my own examples, both of which have sufficient provenance for me to be confident as original finish. I would have had no hesitation in accepting it as original had it been so described. Any example of his work without the “tells” would only need to pass through the hands of one miscreant to be established in the canon of the bona fide. I wonder how many times that has happened- I hope he’s never worked for the Harrisons.

Trying to wean myself off preamps for use at doubling gigs, so I'm listing a couple today. First up is this one: https://gearspace.com/gear/ebs/microbass-ii?via=gear_post_link https://www.gear4music.com/G4M/EBS-MicroBass-II-Bass-Preamp-Pedal/65B6 It's a classic Swiss Army Knife of a pedal which does pretty much everything you're likely to need at a gig. The tone-sculpting allows either seamless switching between DB and electric or two different tones from a single bass, it has no problems handling piezo pickups, it's a great DI box, etc. etc. etc. I've always run this off phantom power from the mixer so I'm including a new, boxed power supply. This has done a lot of gigs with https://www.lemonrock.com/damoandthedynamites so I won't claim perfect nick, but it's a solid 9/10. Everything works exactly as it should. Four little patches of removable velcro on the bottom.

Trying to wean myself off preamps for use at doubling gigs, so I'm listing a couple today. First up is this one: https://www.bassgearmag.com/radial-tonebone-bassbone-v2-pedal/ Famously built like a tank, it's a classic Swiss Army Knife of a pedal which does pretty much everything you're likely to need at a gig. The tone-sculpting allows either seamless switching between DB and electric or two different tones from a single bass, it has no problems handling piezo pickups, it's a great DI box, etc. etc. etc. Original power supply but - to my annoyance - I can't find the original packaging, even though I'm sure that I have it somewhere. 🙁 Condition is flawless & functional, very nearly pristine. That's why it's "very nearly" pristine ... four little patches of removable velcro on the bottom. Apart from that velcro, it's perfect. Everything works exactly as it should.

Happy Jack's Great Exotic Sale continues with this quite remarkable pedal. How to describe what it does? Best read this: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/audio-sprockets-tonedexter That review is for the original ToneDexter which is what I am selling. Original packaging, power supply & manual, as you can see. By its very nature, this isn't a pedal that gets chucked into gig bags and knocked about at gigs, so this is in pristine condition. If there's a mark on it, then I can't find it. Smaller than you'd think, too. You can't buy these new any more, but the V2 replacement is this one: https://www.andertons.co.uk/audio-sprockets-tonedexter-2-acoustic-guitar-preamp/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20736322037&gbraid=0AAAAADujoUrZPlhasp7Z7MDPcIjO7Cnyt&gclid=Cj0KCQjwh5vFBhCyARIsAHBx2wzoSIwW07QUzI0kxlO4PRfLLAuySRBXjVY8ZKQoc6XWvrMM3LVfcRcaArDKEALw_wcB I used this a lot when I was gigging a Zeller ply bass and a Kolstein Busetto, both of those with utterly gorgeous tone, alongside my custom-built Ali-Kat aluminium bass ... which looks astonishing but can't even begin to compete on tone. These days, I no longer actually own a traditional DB of any sort () so the ToneDexter is getting very little use.
