  1. Past hour
  2. I can send you a DCX Bass and maybe the MXR Bass Synth (I’m in the process of buying one but not in the UK again until end of August)
  3. I've been thinking about getting one of these for my US P bass for a while, the only place that sells it for a price I would pay is Thomann, but you've then got the £10 shipping fee and I don't really need anything else expensive enough to get it to the free shipping level. Anyone have one fitted to their bass? Is it worth having? I'd be putting it on the A string to try and get rid of the weird rattling overtone noise.
  4. Yes, I watched some of her vids where you can hear her talkback feed. A lot of US churches I see bass cams from seem to simply programme the songs into Ableton (or similar) and just follow the robot voice and click track. It’s clear from those vids that she’s actively MDing a live band, calling repeats and transitions, calling dynamics, controlling some sort of tech with those buttons to her left… all very impressive. And so it’s music with the ability to flow as needed rather than just follow the pre-programmed, rigid karaoke track. Watched one where she was saying, “…repeat that section… …again… …OK, take it to the one chord and hold… …build… …c’mon, build… …chorus, two, three, four…” I love the organic nature of that band leading and the flexibility it gives to work a tight arrangement but allow some spontaneity. And yes, only 24 years old 😮
  5. One of my favourite flyrigs. I just don’t use it. Basically a boost, big muff, ampeg amp sim and a Boss OC2 clone. It’s the same octave circuit as the Sonicake Octaver and Valeton OC10 which if you’ve seen my octaver comparisons nail that OC2 tone. DI out and fx loop, honestly if it had a tuner it would be perfect. But it doesn’t and I cover most of my gigs with the Darkglass Element

  7. Demo video to put people off
  8. Nice vid - it’s tough to do compression vids on YouTube as they add so much compression themselves when you upload but you get a sense of what the Diamond is about from this. I’m gonna buy one of these or another Lusithand Alma next time I’m feing flush and one comes up for a good price. I fancy a DCX Bass too, but I may just buy a Valeton GP-5 for £68 and run the NAM captures from Tone3000 on it 😁
  9. Origin Effects DCX Bass With the flat wounds this is a very subtle effect with very little being affected in the high end (mainly because I don’t have any). I quite like the eq mode, od mode doesn’t really do it for me, but it’s a pleasant enough transparent drive. I have another video I’ll try and post tonight where I use it to really push the Diamond compressor and get some really squished tones with a bit of grit and that’s really nice. And that’s probably the thing, on its own it’s a bit uninspiring but it plays well with others if that’s your thing. With the other stuff I had lying around I’d grab the Kasleder Freaky Stone for it’s eq over this and the Beta or Beta V for overdrive sounds. So all in all 🤷🏻‍♂️ yeah
  10. I would also take a decent envelope filter in P/x (eg MXR) with cash my way as I don't currently have one
  11. This guy - https://northwestguitars.co.uk/products/hipshot-style-string-retainer-for-bass-guitars (odd that they refer to it as "Hipshot style" when it's nothing like a Hipshot string retainer, but let's gloss over that). Just thought I'd throw this in there in case you had pre-existing screw holes - this should drop right in...
  12. The discontinued version of the Diamond Bass Compressor Jr. I have it running at 18v, I maybe notice a slight difference between 9v and 18v but it felt quite heavy handed with the compression so I upped the voltage. Listening back I think it sounds great, I can still hear that envelope of attack to the compression. I’ve since been able to get similar out of my Punchline but I can also get more subtle limiting with that. It’s definitely something I’d consider owning again but at the moment I’m not a huge fan of compression outside of a studio setting and if I need it for tonal purposes then the Punchline scratches that itch (and sooner or later I’m going to stop trying to replace it 😅)
  13. My favourite filter for fingerstyle funk. A great example of players using it is anything by Dumpstaphunk. Both, yes BOTH! Bass players use a BEF.
  14. I've come to the conclusion that eBay don't give a monkeys about counterfeits and, after arguing with them, being told by their "AI" that there's nothing wrong with obvious fakes, escalating, speaking to people, and so-on, I've lost faith in their service. The fact that they then started adding on a "buyer assurance" (or whatever they call their buyers fees) premium gives me no confidence that an issue with an item would be successfully resolved; either (a) their conclusions would be via the same system as their handling of counterfeit reports and yield the same results, or (b) they've downgraded that to deliberately create a premium "service". I've pretty much stopped using eBay.
  15. I’ve been being lazy DCX is uploading now
  16. Just inaugurating my new freshly made Stingray (The Guitar Fabrik Kit) learning New Order’s “Thieves Like Us.” Feels great to get some fresh grooves going.
  17. Nice idea, I’m in! Here’s my follow-up: Save Me by Queen. Keeping the vibe going!
  18. Bump with a slight price drop to £1550. Got a lot on at the moment, otherwise I'd have had time to pop this into the Bass Gallery for a commission sale. I'll be taking this down and making that visit ASAP, so anyone interested, please get in touch ASAP. I'm also taking away the option of the Hiscox case, as they're not going to be easily replaced now and I want to keep one. Sorry, but UK sales only I'm afraid.
  19. They sound great when running two together at slightly different settings. I did this briefly when I bought this earlier, more purple model to supplant the darker one I had. If I could sell one of my listings I’d be pretty tempted to get this to do that again.
  20. Love Is The Kiwi - The Charlatans
  21. Mmm, very good suggestion, Song From Under The Floorboards is one of my all-time faves to play 👍
  22. Can I interject here? You can buy the exact string retainer which Sire use from a UK retailer. I'm about to head to work but will post a link when I get to the office.
  23. Today
  24. Reported to ebay (ages ago) but it's still there. Not sure how it differs from using 'Fender', 'Gibson' etc. incorrectly. Ironically it's now the first thing that comes up on a search for 'Pedulla Basses'. I was initially intrigued to discover how 'Kay' had made a copy of Mike P's MVP bass(es), apparently before he'd even produced them himself. But assume seller is just referring to the body/headstock design ... although they're not that similar really.
  25. Sure do! It is ABSOLUTELY ye olde business!!! Easily nicer than some Custom Shop stuff from the same peroid (the couple i've played). It juat feels like it has a hearbeat or a soul, or... something. Not sure how to put it, but it just sing! Every time I open the case I giggle 😁 Also, in terms of excellent build quality, I have to say the early 2000's American Deluxe QMT Jazzes are also INCREDIBLE! have an 03 and im afraid to pick it up because each tine I do, I cannot put it down for days at a time!!!! I have had some incredibly lovely Mexican and Japanese Fender basses over the years (including my forst Fender, a white 2002 Standard Jazz) and some absolute planks too. Though not many out of Japan. My current Roadworn 60 Anniversary Jazz in Firemist Silver is a true thing of beauty. It just feels amazing. Does have a whiff of Custom Shop about it, more so the feel than the heavy relic, but amazing instrument! The American made stuff I've experienced has been mostly great with the odd 'meh' unit and one absolute dud Jazz that could not be redeemed. Put me off Jazzes for years lol. Picked up a 98 USA Jazz in March and despite being an absolute boat anchor in weight, it is easily worth that weight in solid gold. The boomiest, smoothest Jazz Ive ever played in terms of the low end - i use it for gigs a lot. Most of the late 90's stuff I've played has been excellent. And my 2 American Pro 2's Jazzes are both spectacularly nice! A very good friend had a Pro 2 P Bass and said it just felt flat and lifeless despite endless tinkering. He returned it and bought a never Japanese Hybrid thingy in a cool lava kind of colour. I think there is a decent level of QC across the Fender group as a whole but hey, the odd Friday arvo builds do get through now and then. One of the concessions in large-scale production.
  26. How are you finding the tracking? It really does sound cool, though having watched that demo video I still think the preset change is unnecessarily fiddly for live use.
