  2. One of the harder to find pedals from the increasingly collectible 7 Series Tonelok range. It’s an excellent phaser for bass, with a wide array of control options that allow you to the scope to craft a useable mix-friendly phase tone. The effect operates at unity, with no lift nor drop in volume, and no loss of low end whatsoever. Though fundamentally a phaser, the PM7’s modulation capabilities can extend to territories way beyond the norm. The control set achieves the following … Speed: adjusts the speed of the vibrations. They become faster the more this is turned to the right. Depth: adjusts the depth of the vibrations. They become deeper the more this is turned to the right. Manual: Adjusts the level of the phase-shifted tone. The level is increased and the effect strengthened the more this is turned to the right. Feedback: Adjusts the amount of feedback. Turning this to the right applies normal-phase feedback, and turning it to the left applies inverted-phase feedback. In either case, the sound will become more distinctive. Mode 1/2/3: Selects from three types of phases … - 4-stage phaser with invertedphase mix. Vintage sound. - 6-stage phaser with invertedphase mix. Deep phasing sound. - 6-stage phaser with normal-phasemix. Deep phasing sound. Waveform: Selects the modulation waveform (the "shape" of modulation). - Triangle wave: Produces conventional phaser sounds. - Square wave. Produces step-sequencer-like sounds. - High-frequency wave. Produces sounds like a ring modulator or FM synthesizer. The Ibanez 7 Series pedals are the bomb. The Maxon engineers were thinking outside the box, to be sure.   3. Beautifully crafted delay pedal from Walrus Audio, tactile, with a really intuitive control set … feature rich, but simple to use. It’s a piece of kit that invites creativity. Works very well with bass guitar. No mud at all. The quality in this pedal is obvious to the ear … But hey, there are many fine words about the Arp87 around internetland if you do some trawling. If you like drones, long, Indefinitely held notes or passages, to sculpt, build and move between layers, morph ambient textures … in their own right, to solo over, or to underpin a multi layer bass part … Then one of these is worth looking at. It does everything the Freeze does, but so much more. Most notable for me was its own effects loop, and the possibilities for signal chain placement and the potentially endlessly added depths to the frozen effect that the loop affords, whilst keeping your realtime bass licks otherwise unaffected, if so desired. The options and degree of functionality are wild. It’s an extremely versatile and powerful creative tool that opens a world of musical possibilities. It’s a thick, gnarly, and harmonically rich fuzz … Based on the Tall Font Green Russian/ Civil War Muff circuit … So strong with that mix friendly mid character, and retaining the low end that makes this particular Muff so bass-friendly. This one is indeed bass friendly. There’s something more to this pedal though. The secret sauce is in the tone sweep. As DBA put it … “A specially designed multi-curve shaping filter which changes the timbre of the pedal from super deep bass sludge to screaming highs”. This makes for something more versatile than your average 3-knob Muff, sure. It’s killler. Plenty love for it out there anyway. Check the reviews.   7. well, yes it is a beauty - it's a good question though regarding B-G tuning I wouldn't want to put anyone off here, but I don't think it wouldn't be a straightforward matter of just putting different strings on, I think it would need to be looked at by someone who knows what they're doing. The nut would definitely need altering or replacing. I think the type of B would need consideration too - might need a taper style to fit the bridge and might need lower tension possibly to limit the stress on the next (which I don't think has any carbon reinforcement or the like) That's just my initial thoughts, if stringing it B-G is a deal breaker though then I would revise my answer to 'yeah, no worries, it'll all be fine!' 🙂
  8. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.

  10. Sounds like a break is exactly what you need. Then maybe hire a rehearsal space with lits oftime and no pressure to set up the whole pa from scratch... everything set to defaults before you start.
  11. And allowing pubs to spill put into the street in city centres is one thing, but in an area where there is housing, without the landlord being expected to control rowdy behaviour is another. Having people eating, drinking and talking all week outside your front door is one thing. Having people shouting and swearing is another. Again, it's about what is reasonably expected.

  13. It's a case of the level of noise that is reasonably expected. If I moved next to a pub that played music, I'd expect music at certain times of the week and at a certain level. Bands are getting louder and venues are staying open later. There are developers that do stupid things like build retirement flats next to music venues, that kind of thing should be thrown back to the developers to fix. But we know developers vanish with regularity for a new company to spring up in their places. It's far more complex and nuanced than; buy a place near a pub and you should expect trouble and noise, just put up with it.
  14. My usual go to for Stingrays is teal, which I love as a colour on most things. However, given… I’d probably go with some sort of burgundy mist to contrast with the hardware.

Superb bass, but not playing it much at all. £500 posted via Parcelforce tracked, or collection from the Isle of Wight from any of the ferry ports your side (Portsmouth/Southampton/Southsea/Lymington).

  16. 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  18. Firstly, sorry for your loss. These things don’t always hit hardest straight away, my dad passed away in a February and it wasn’t until the September that I really let go of the pent up grief. Talking to your bands mates about is a good step, but make sure you really do take a break of some description, even if it’s just letting someone else do what you do for a while. As always, you know you can come and vent on BC, any sort of catharsis is good.

  20. Difficult one for me on friday evening at the Cricketers in Westcliff. I'm not sure I was mentally prepared for it. For a start the wife and I were away for a couple of nights before for her birthday and a friends wedding (on the same day), and we got back the morning of the gig. We also had a dep females singer with us, covering a couple of gigs for our usual singer. Me and Liam (the other singer) got there in plenty of time, drummer was late, which is logistically challenging to set up a PA around if the drums are not there yet. One of the guitarists was held up on traffic so bad we wasn't sure if he was even going to make it, which would have meant drastically changing the set. Then the dep singer arrived and called us to open the gates - the pub manager had said no more cars in the pub's private car park at this point and to use the public car park over the road. I went outside to tell her only to be met with a very distressed singer saying she's split up with her partner and has everything she owns in the car and can't leave it in the public car park. Thankfully, the landlord understood and let her in. At this stage, I wasn't even sure if she was up for singing, but she insisted on seeing it through. So we finished setting up. Dep singer doesn't like IEM's so we set up a wedge that kept feeding back no matter what I did. really struggled with getting a good in-ear mix. It shouldn't really change by this point, but both singers were using different mics to what we're used to, do gain stages were all over the place. In the end, she said not to worry about the edge and she'll make do with the FOH speakers. Finally finished soundchecking 15mins after we're supposed to start playing - then the drummer says he can't hear his overheads. Getting rather stressed by this stage. Having a digital mixer should make setting up and sound checking a breeze, but we're lacking so much consistency lately with either gear or band members. Finally start playing, Two song in and I notice my E string is massively out of tune. Drummer also says (and he was right) that the bass sounded really 'subby'. Admittedly, I was trying out a new preset I've been using in rehearsals that seemed but, but it sounded really bassy in the room, despite having low cuts on the IR block, mixer bass channel and main mixer outs. I ended up enabling the global eq on my helix and adding another low cut around 85hz! Something definitely weird happening. Felt like we'd settled in after a few songs, until the dep singers wireless mic packed up and we hastily switched her to a wired mic during a song. Kept ploughing through and ended up having an 'okay' night. the heat didn't help matters either. It seemed to sap us all of energy. I was glad to be finished by the end of the night. I felt tired, under the weather and stressed all evening. I had a chat with a couple of my band mates and said I'm really struggling lately. It feels like I'm the one doing most of the work behind the scenes. I've got a lot on my plate with work and family - I have my widowed mother staying with us, over from spain for a few weeks, and I still don't feel like I've properly grieved after losing dad back in February. It's all getting a bit much. Mentally exhausted and overwhelmed - I need a holiday.

  23. MusicMan have sine some really fun sparkly metallic finishes. I’m very much a natural finish fan for my own instrument but I am a sucker for metallic paint jobs!
  24. So he decides how the bass sounds in each band, rather than the bassists/bands. Not keen on that. Whilst I find gigging that way to be very convenient it’s my choice.
