  1. Past hour
  2. That's crazy inflation 😁
  3. Not only do I prefer to play fretless, I actually find it easier. Its more natural and intuitive. Having played fretless exclusively for the last 10 years or so, going back to playing fretted feels really restricted and constrained.
  4. Three months ago, all I owned was 4 fretless basses and had no intention of buying a fretted bass. However, an artist saw me play (fretless) at a gig in April and asked if I would like to play bass for them. It required a fretted bass so I had to pick one up. This led to playing a big festival gig so I picked up a backup fretted last month.
  5. What's the cap under the top ?
  6. I bet Devoroast would be a bit different.
  7. Thank you Pow! That’s great
  8. Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  9. Graceland is on my album gig list, the problem at present is that our singer/guitarist isn't a fan. I'm working on it 👍
  10. Hiya, this looks great. Do you know how many mA they push out? I've got an ADAM that sucks 500mA so is a thirsty little bugger! Cheers. K
  11. I was making the point that you most certainly can slap flats 👍
  12. Caline Pressure Tank compressor, excellent condition with original box. Velcro on the bottom. £25 inc. UK postage.
  13. Man alive I do love his work on Graceland. ☺️
  14. ....or Bakithi Kumalo 👍
  15. Bass Centre Elites. Confirmed by the slightly too long E string
  16. I think I've mentioned before we have this coffee shop in my village: https://www.deveroast.com/about although Pete prefers to talk about coffee more than music! I also suspect he's still getting a lot of royalties as the coffee shop is suspiciously high end....
  17. Dear Basschatters, These strings came on a Yamaha BB1600 that I bought and I really like them. I can’t seem to find out what they are anywhere! Any help would be hugely appreciated! Best wishes, Sam
  18. On the 5-string debate, years ago I used to have a set of Dewtron bass pedals which I used to take me down to a C when I ran out of notes on my 4-string. Now I've got some 5-strings but I still gravitate back to my Ric 4-strings. I did try a Ric 5-string (the triangle pickup one)(curious they did the pickups but then changed the neck position markers to dots), but the neck was much wider.
  19. Why didn't you tell me that before I sold my estate and bought a saloon. Double bass and Saloon car are not a good mix.
  20. Hey Si, yes mate I’ve sent an email over - just waiting on a response but hoping to have it back up and running for the weekend so thought I’d cover all grounds…
  21. I think this sums up aptly my thoughts on this thread!
  22. Alternatively, it's possible that it might just have been a joke.
  23. Horses for courses. Fretted and fretless both have strengths, so use whichever best suits the job. I play in a soul band at the moment, so fretted works best for me in that context.
  24. Yes, I played mine through a serious PA system at Warners' Alvaston Hall on Saturday, and it sounded huge. The punch of the passive Nate P was practically equal to my 18v Jazz Elite which has a very powerful preamp!
  25. Talking of slapping a fretless sometimes causing a raised eyebrow (not with me you understand), I would turn those folks’ attention to Paul Young's Come Back and Stay, where the bassist of this thread, slaps the crap out of the bass also in this thread. We won’t mention Les Claypool, as he’s just nuts .
