Up for sale are some strings from a few different brands. All are 5 string sets. All prices include postage. The Sadowsky Blues are brand new and unused. These are wicked strings, and have been my string of choice for ages! 3x Sadowsky Blue Label Stainless Steel 45-105 with a Tapered .130 B string. £30 each/2 for £57.50/all 3 for £85 Thomastik Rounds JR345 Long Scale - Gauge 43/51/68/89/118 Bought these as I absolutely love their flats, so was curious about the rounds! Unfortunately they weren't for me. Cut for 4 over 1 Headstock, they've been played less than an hour and been in their packaging in a drawer ever since. These are £75 new from Thomann, so how about £40 posted. Dunlop Super Bright - Stainless Steel Light Gauge 40-120 I've never tried light gauge strings, and I was curious as I've always played 45-105/130. Couldn't get on with the lighter gauge unfortunately, so these have also had less than an hour's play on them. Cut for a 4 Over 1 Headstock, been in the drawer ever since. ~£40 + postage new, so how about £20 posted. If you buy the Sadowskys and Thomastiks, I'll throw the Dunlops in for free -

Weirdly at my local jam night, you can be absolutely falling over drummers. Not normal, I know. One night I was chatting to my friend and realised everyone else within a two metre radius was a drummer. I was the only bass player in the village. -
I figured but then I also know that what works in a rehearsal studio doesn't necessarily work at a gig. Good to know that in this case though it pretty much does, weight off our mind. Oh he's buying but it's been stressed that he's on a budget. Not my business past that. Thanks for the other suggestion, that's the one I mentioned in the op and I'm with you, I think it's the budget contender at the moment.

My daughter is venturing to open mics to sing. She found that she could not really hear herself. A pedal which could take and split the mic signal, send one split on to the PA and send the other to a bit of gain and a headphone amp would be awesome. Obv, a small mixer would do all this, but is there anything out there tailor made? I cannot find anything. Ta.

I bought one new around 1990 in London it was black with a rosewood neck. Quite something but it had a bit of an odd G string with a dead spot that threw me. I even went back to the shop about it but another was the same. I bought it on a bit of a whim, I was young and didn't really think it through. I didn't use it that much, but did record a song with it that sounds good. A few years later I emigrated and needed to sell it fast, and ended up selling it to a shop for about a third of what I paid for it. I don't have any photos of it. I hope you find one to your liking. I realised a 5 string isn't for me. I'll stick to my 4 string 1992 2eq StringRay.

Warwick Red's are a good set of strings for very little money, used to use them for a while, then tried some others which just sounded better. Elites Stadium Steels used to be pretty good, and are reasonably priced. Current faves are D'Addario Pro Steels, but they aren't cheap. Amazon have a 4 string set for around £28-29, where bizarrely, a 5 string set is £26. IMO, they consistently sound great, and last for months.
