    I'm finally giving up one of my babies. Having got one and was amazed with the tone and breadth of Bass, with my 5 string. So I got another and run them both with two amps for a while, and latter with a 2ohm amp on Function band gigs. I still use one all the time for big band gigs and home practice, but the other has been sat here for five years now not used. So it is time. !!     I have one of these and it’s very good. I don’t fiddle with the controls much, tending to leave it in passive mode in the usual 60:40 jazz pup mix but I do like the string spacing

    If a guitarist is playing with a capo at fret 3, a C turns into an Eb and an Em into a Gm. When I'm reading the chords over someone's shoulder because I not only don't know the song, I've never ever heard it in my life before, transposing on the fly for someone with my level of musical knowledge is rather difficult - not impossible when it's a few bars of one chord and a few bars of another, but when there's a rapid sequence of chords it all goes to pot. Not so hard when (to take two examples from yesterday) I'm thoroughly familiar with the song and just need to move my hand position, or when it's capo 1 or 2.

    For many reasons, yes. I also find smugness, paper thin faux 'man of the people' schtick and rich people being hypocrites irritating. But they are all rational, so they don't belong here.

    Probably. Sorry the reason most people are either being vague or just recommending what they use is that we don't really have the information we need to properly answer your question. What's the situation? Band? Type of music? Volume requirements? Will this be going in to a pa (yours or supplied?) or backline? Do you also need some way of hearing yourself? Etc etc etc. Really the only thing you actually need is a DI box or something with an XLR output, and even that isn't actually necessary. Nothing to stop you just taking a normal guitar cable and plugging the bass straight into the mixer.

    Here’s my 1990 green label CE-2, in great condition. It makes awesome chorus sounds, and will continue to do so far longer than any plug in (ooh, controversial! 😂). I’ll even post it within the UK for free! I must be mad! Cheers!

    For a multifx with amp & pedal emulations, usb audio interface for recording, DI box, tuner, looper and even drum patterns built in, a secondhand zoom B3 would fit the bill and hard to beat on cost. Although this model is a few years old, the sounds still stand up, and it is still the easiest multifx I have ever used.

    Returned to The New Inn in Buckingham last night. Not as busy as has been but still a reasonable amount of people who seemed to enjoy us. Landlord and Landlady were very complimentary. Our singer had a bit of an off night as she had had a tooth out the day before and was on some pretty strong medication. Will be back there next year.
