  1. Past hour
  2. Gonna part this out, make me an offer, I’ll probably say yes.
  3. Also getting the same issue across different power supplies. I was previously using one that gave me a lot of buzz when gigging so I recently switched to a Cioks PSU in the hope that would solve all my noise problem. It completely cleared up the buzz, but I'm still getting the pops. Haven't tried batteries on the pedals... that's not gonna be a sustainable solution but worth testing out just to see if it makes any difference. I'll test that later today.
  4. Great gig, depping with Duran/Spandau show 'From Gold To Rio' in Gainsborough on Saturday night. Almost full.... and receptive audience up and singing/dancing. Bass sounded great in my IEM's, and apparently out front too, really cutting/punching through. Gear used: Spector Dimension HP4 set flat, through dimed HAZardlAMPS preamp pedal, in to HXStomp with my own EQ'd GK800/Ampeg 810 setting (& chorus where needed).... and out to desk.
  5. I've just put a new rig together - ABM EVO lll and Monaco - our band is a four piece v/g/b/d covers band playing mostly pubs and small festivals. I gave it its first run out yesterday - absolutely superb. Plus lightweight, fits in car easily etc. I've just put a review of the Monaco on the Monaco thread if you want to know more about the cab.
  6. First gig report: I purchased a Monaco last week and gave it its first run out at an outdoor gig yesterday. My first impressions are that this cab is superb. The sound of each note from low E to high on the G string is even and balanced and speaks clearly, just like the bass does when practicing using headphones. Setting the amp's eq to flat the speaker sounds a little bland but once eq is set to taste then the sound really comes alive, it is full, rich, clear and present. The ABM is a perfect match with its seven band eq; after a few adjustments on the fly I had a really pleasing sound, with a touch of drive and compression to complement; in melodic, sensitive passages it felt like my technique, the string and the speaker were working as one as if it was an acoustic instrument; and in fast, loud passages with the drummer moving around the low toms muddying the sound, now each note spoke clearly through the mush. My only gripe is that there aren't rubber feet on the cab - easily solved - I can see the corner protectors getting pretty scratched up quite quickly and the cab needs a mat at home to protect the wooden floor from getting marked. So overall this is a wonderful cab, yesterday was the clearest and most even sound I've ever had on stage. I'm really excited to be taking this forward with me on my musical journey as I think it will help me become a better bass player.
  7. I’ll knock a tenner off any of the remaining pedals - postage in the UK included.
  8. The Raven - Alan Parsons Project
  9. When I had one of these basses, I treated it to a new pickguard from Adrian Maruszczyk as I wanted a different look. The bass was moved on a few years back but it seems I held on to the original so here it is. The new one cost me £45 so I'm listing this for £30 including UK shipping. My feedback thread is below:
  10. Here's a quality on-board pre-amp that I have no need for. It's a Glockenklang and consists of a volume pot, with a push-pull function to select active or passive use, and a stacked bass & treble pot with a centre-detent & knobs. These are £109 new at Bass Direct so I'm asking £70 including UK shipping. My feedback thread is below:
  11. Hi JJ, I have DM'd you. Having searched around online, I agree the beveled edges apply to Original and Pure Vintage Fender pick-up's. I have therefore removed the words "Custom Shop" from the description and will see what else I can find out. Thanks again for your help.
  12. Looking to sell this set of Fender Custom Shop 60's Jazz Pickups. They are in great condition, and the wire hasn't been trimmed at all from new. £110 £90 Price includes UK postage. PM me if you have any questions

  15. Their drummer was on double duty and depped for the Metallica tribute after the Fury set!
  16. Its loudness is dependent on the sensitivity and output of your cab. I have the of 20t and tested it on a 102dB/1w 4x12. It fell just short in a metalband setting with koud drumbeast and 2 standard guitarists going in 100w tube amps. The 50t might have pulled through there. Just saying that the amp is not the only factor in the signal chain.
  17. Most likely not. To kill an opamp you would need a very big electromagnetic unit used in hospitals (MRI scanner) and the IC could still survive.
  18. It all depends on the power of the magnet.
  19. Yep, the opamp could have been affected.
  20. One more: which power are you using with pedals? Have you tried batteries? I think you are close, as this sounds like DC somewhere.
  21. Could the magnet have affected the active circuitry?
  22. What sort of not work, completely nothing, as in you put the receiver in the amp, put the transmitter in the old one, get a sound and then put the transmitter in the new on and nothing, then swap it to a cable and they both work? That is odd, there is occasionally a problem with the transmitter with stereo plugs in active basses, but that one is just the basic mono plug (i have had some of those).
  23. I have watched a bunch of his youtube vids, but I decided to put my money on the TalkingBass course instead (just felt a bit more polished and complete to me). I think Josh gets a lot of good press around here, so certainly not a bad choice. My tip would be this (which ever course you go for): set aside a dedicated timeslot in your diary to work on the course - I'm a terrible planner so haven't done a lesson in a couple of weeks now and I feel like I'm forgetting it all already.
  24. I have someone coming to try it out today so it might not still be available. I'll update the thread if so. Differences, off the top of my head, are a carved body, inset black bridge, inset tuners, brass nut, set neck, black pickup cover. Not sure if the hardware or electrics were any different in terms of quality.
