Faulty Katana GO Headphone Amp???
Useless Eustace replied to Useless Eustace's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks again ped Well I downloaded the app & switched through the Bass Amps and found the problem is only on 5-A BASS SYNTH. Now TBH, I can live without that setting & would probably never use it, but it’s a worry that it’s a fault. Sounds like a Darlek & completely cuts out. I messaged the Roland Store in London. They said it sounds like a it’s faulty & to bring it in, but I’m up north. They also said that the Amazon seller has nothing to do with Roland Boss UK. I’m tempted to return this & buy from RB. -

Misdee - I was very fortunate that I worked for a music store at the time ('80-'86, pre Bass Centre) which allowed me to expand the bass department to include brands such as Steinberger and Spector and others - that's how I was able to afford those premium basses back in the day. Incredible round, punchy tone! 😄

Some of the basses which have been considered niche designs since they were introduced post-millennium would have been accepted with open arms back in the 1980's. The MusicMan Bongo and Status Streamline, for example, would have flown out of the shops and into the hands of bass players keen to be seen embracing modernity, both in terms of sound and design.

Thank you for your kind comments, ped, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch! It was such an amazing era, I was compelled to tell the story (I'd love to hear other 80's bass experience stories from all over the world.) 😀 Yep, Vigier is definitely a significant piece in the story. I always enjoyed seeing Patrice and Lina at NAMM back in the day. Great basses, killer tone, feel and lightweight!

Steinberger L2 - the only bass I have never owned that still torments me. I even had the catalogue in the mid-1980's. What I didn't have was enough money to buy one.

Oh dear! The Wilcock I owned was just incredibly good fun to play - extremely quick if that’s your kind of thing. I only sold it as I didn’t get on with the tone - I only really use actives. I absolutely love the pink finish on the 5 and I’m pretty sure it’s a Bow job. Assurance of incredible paintwork. Active too. I could have a problem… well I do. I don’t have £3200 -
Maybe there was more than one bass. The story was recounted to me in 1998/1999.

Mark got that bass is 1985, and still had it until at least 1994

I had a custom Zon bass made for me in the late 1990's and used to speak to Joe Zon and his sales manager Mark regularly at that time. Mark King came up one day in conversation. Joe and Mark were both more than a little miffed that a bass they made for Mark King had turned up in a pawn shop or some such like, not long after they had given it to him. A lot of work had gone into that bass with MK's specific requirements in mind and they were a bit insulted he had just tossed it at the first opportunity. Joe was a big fan of Mark King's playing and I think he was genuinely upset. What the ins and outs of this tale were, I have no idea. I'm just recounting what Zon told me about it.

GAS is a a terrible thing. So there I was all content after a really good year, then boom and 'must have ' bass punched a mighty hole in the budget. So, my two latest acquisitions need new homes. They are brand effectively and we all know the G & L story so this is it, want a new one?, you wont find any better. Check out my other listing for my SB-2 or take a look at this... NOW £450 Anywho. 3 TSB Jazz bass, the G & L version, spicier pickups than your average J type bass in this price range. Beautifully finished and in 10/10 condition. Vinyl wrapped plate easily removed . I have been after a nice example of this since seeing Ritchie Kotzens 'riot'. I finally pulled the trigger on this new one in the early summer and very pleased i am too or was until i fell for 'another' way more expensive J beast. As with the SB-2 i'd love to keep it but needs must. I love the bridges on these bad boys. Fully set up with fresh EB slinkies. Can ship at buyer expense, pickup from Rochester or exchange somewhere near to the M25.
