Edit:
I am still trying to find other Peter Cook guitars and basses
If anyone out there in Basschatland knows of one, please drop me a line. :)

Hope someone out there can help.

I am trying to compile a list of some of the basses and guitars that
the great Peter Cook made.
At this point I shall say that no Dudley Moore cracks are required!!!!

A rare pic of Peter, with "some other bloke"!!

This was his shop.

After much trawling, there really isn't much to be found.

I have been communicating with Nick, doctor of the bass, who had a Peter Cook Axis
but swapped it for a double bass and now no longer knows where it is.

I have also had contact with three other owners of Peter Cook instruments but would
love to find some more.

If anyone owns a Peter Cook, or knows someone who does, please drop me a line.

There must be someone out there that has a Peter Cook or knows of one.

Cheers.
I have and use a CMI-branded long scale Ned Callan bass:

I have the same bass in original Ned Callan livery ... but after a long, traumatic life which has left it a mere shadow of the bass it once was. Oh cruel, cruel world.

Well i had to spend a fair bit of money to try and get mine sorted. Still a little weak open E, and one of the most uncomfortable playing position you can think of (I'm 5'11'' and have to stretch my arm to reach the tuning pegs...). The tone is beautiful however, and the thick neck makes you play in a certain relaxed manner which suits the bass very well...

I like you're Ned Callan Jack. It's 'road worn'.

That road being the Old Kent Road full of navvies on a particularly feisty Saturday night.

I met a guy last year who was restoring a Peter Cook thunderbird, he has been listing his progress on another forum
Yep, that's Kenny!! :)

A real character and a big PC fan.

I know of four basses and one guitar and a 12 & 6 twin - not much progress
since Kenny and I started the quest.
There are, of course, the famous ones that he made for the stars, it's the
others I am interested in.

There must be somebody out there who has one.

Maybe there is someone, who is perhaps not signed up on here yet - a lurker.

If so, sign up and join in. . . . . . Please!! :)

Cheers.

Nice looking bass.

Great finish.

PM me some more shots, if you can - I always send anything that is relevant to Peter.

Cheers. :)

Sorry but that bass has been recently cannibalised to provide a neck and pickups for a Precision build. So there are no further pictures. The neck and pickups are great but the weight of that (I assume) mahogany body was too much for me. By the way I bought it in 1984 and was the second owner.

This is a video of me playing it in about 2001. Great sound.

Ha, small world moment - finally being able to put a face to a user name! Gareth, I used to do a lot of sound and stage work and worked with you & the Hyenas a number of times at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, particularly in the days when the uses to use the old Caledonian brewery for gigs. If I remember correctly, you used to have an awesome Tokai that always had a great sound. Fun times. Glad to know you are still playing (are the Hyenas going?). Cheers.

Sorry for the thread hijack!
