Weaning myself off Basschat

I too am an addict and I loves it!

To be fair though, I know so many people who spend all their free time on bloody facebook joining stupid clubs and finding out what their best friends little sisters boyfriends cat did today. Personally anyone I like I speak to regulalry on the phone, so I spend my time on BassChat rather than brain rotting Facebook.

It's informative, funny it keeps my mind in a good place and stops me getting depressed in an office job, and there are some quality bargains to be had daily. Its so good they should prescribe BassChat on th NHS along with country walks in the sunshine.

Actually, I don't see myself being addicted to BC at all these days.

I mean, I'm here for about two years, but, what BC lacks today, is discussions about music. Yep, we have dozens threads about Jazz basses, amps, strings and other sh1t, that I'm not interested in at all, but there's sooo little about actual music.

In the end, it takes about me about 7 minutes to go trough forums and pages, including BC, everyday.

I've tried to wean myself off BassChat - or at least - to concentrate my time on *modding only* - but it's tough when everyone around me in my daily life has very little interest in the minute details of everything bass related or indeed unable to understand my 'bass fanaticism affliction' - Therefore, I have to come here to get my fix with like minded people!

I do start some periodically, but it's not the point.
I'm talking about, what people are 'used to' discuss.

Discussions about jazz bass finishes, string gauges, and amp wattages - for me, these just are technical tools for making music, nonessential stuff, but they're not music itself, if that makes sense..

If it's good for you and others, mate, it's brilliant, but for me, it doesn't do the trick ,that's what I wanted to say.

Agreed. I think there should BC should have a forum about Music in general: I really struggle to see the point of forcing such discussions into Off Topic where they get mixed up with rants about traffic wardens/cyclists/judiciary/immigrants etc.

I do apologise, my post wasn't directed at yourself, but I used your post as a possible 'answer' to the OP. In that if you want to wean yourself of BC take less interest in string gauges and the like, ie stop being so nerdy about the technical aspects of a bass, like what I am.
