stingrayfan Posted November 22, 2009 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Sounds like a muddy sounding bass like a Gibson EB3, played at the neck, with dead strings, through a curly lead into a homemade amp. SS73 Posted November 22, 2009 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Sounds like most of the gear is being pushed hard or is worn out, especially the speakers, as the tone just isn't coming through, I think it may seem an easy sound to get, but to get that amount of mud even from an EB3, could be a Jazz with really flat flats. I think I can get some similar tones to that from my ABM300 15" combo - it has a "grind" setting that blends in a valve pre- as far as I understand it.. I'd advise buying a really nice rig and setting it up next door and turning it up very very loud so the house rattles along with you and the walls cut out all the harmonic content.... I love the 60's - 70's sounds, that bas sound is just spot on, howver i do like to mix it up using my bootsy fuzz wah. just tought i should mention it incase you all think i have one sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
