Tech Soundsystems cab question

As has been stated it's a Tech Soundsystems cab and if perspective isn't skewing things then that is an ND6x12 cab (1800w and 104db sensitivity)... why the hell would you need to add a 1X15? :)

In all seriousness that single cab would operate far better by itself than if you added another cab into the equation. I owned the 6x10 version and it was a monster, in fact it still resides with a BCer. Dood and a great many others can chip in with views on these cabs if you change the title to 'Tech Soundsystems'!

Value - based upon the fact that 4x10 and 4x12 examples have been offered for £500-£600 (good condition), I'd say that the 6x12 is worth about that if not a smidgen more BUT I'm taking in to account the fact that the cab looks well used and that most of the 4x10s and 4x12s out there are enough for most people, so in this instance I'd not pay a huge amount more for the extra 2 drivers.

<edit for typo>

I don't think you need worry about losing your range...

They're £1600ish new (well, 1950 E anyway) - check out http://www.tech-soundsystems.com/eng/home/index.html

Well I am sure that yesterday when I looked the tech soundsytems website I was automatically forwarded to the Tecamp one. But today it isn't (though I have probably used a different link...)

This is the Tech Soundsystems page, but whether it is an old page that has been left on the server I don't know.

That's a page left behind from the old site. If you reduce the URL down to simply http://www.tech-soundsystems.com you'll be redirected to the new http://www.tec-amp.de/ site.

Thanks BigRedX - thought I was going mad for a moment :)

(Well I have been thinking that for a while actually!)

I also had a look at the www.Tecamp.com site. Hmmm... they look as though they may be a bit cheaper.

 I rather guessed that - and I had seen the German site by then :)
I'm going to make him an offer, if he doesn't accept I'll send you his number.
Wayne, I own Warwickhunts 6x10 and it's a total beast. I've not had to use it at full pelt that often but when I did, the promoter had complaints from the neighbourhood, I sh*t you not.
Check all the drivers individually, listen at a lowish volume at the centre of each speaker, next, put some welly through it and check out how the tweeter sounds at high volume, mine was farting when I bought it but I thought it was an eq thing, I had to replace the voice coil a few months later as it was f***ed.
Give it a try, they are insanely light and sound like a huge heavy bastard.
Steve.

Hi All!

Sorry for the late reply.. yes, I am a BIG fan of the Tech Sound System gear. I have been lucky enough to try most of the range, including the 6x12, 4x10, 4x12 etc. I chose two ND410's for my rig as I was running a stereo set up and wanted a big punchy sound and to make use of the 1KW RMS per channel available from my power amp. Had I have decided to go for a mono set up (for example what I am using now) then the 6x12 could have gone home with me that day instead. Over all though, on the day, the 2 4x10's had a bit more punch through than the 4x12. I mean, like , the kick drum 100Hz type thump which sounded great with my Shuker I had at the time.

I must admit, I am now panging for something similar again.. but its probably just GAS... Though watch this space, as there is a company I wanna have a chat with lol...

How well did the 6x12 like your really low strings?

The room I tested in wasn't really that great.. it managed to show off the punch of the 10's but the 12's lacked what I'd hoped for in depth of bottom end.. similarly, in a different room, I found the Aguilar GS412 to actually show off less bass than the GS212 cabs. I'd love to have another go with all of them in a different environment, but both rooms weren't too dissimal from some of the dismall venues I have had the misfortune of playing in, in the past!
