andytoad Posted Friday at 12:14 Posted Friday at 12:14 Well, As I was dropping off a pick up for rewinding, I decided to jazz up my Jaguar bass with a new scratchplate. Looking through the material, I could not decide so I bought 3! They were cut to size using some sort of scanner as the short scale Jags are a different size. I fitted the darker tort in the end but thought id send out images for anyone interested in changing the standard black one. I might swap as I see fit 🙂 In the images they still have the protective layer to pull off. 1 Quote
Joe Nation Posted Friday at 12:46 Posted Friday at 12:46 You made the right choice, although the gold looks pretty cool too. 3 Quote

fretmeister Posted Friday at 13:54 Posted Friday at 13:54 I am surprised as normally I hate tort, but the darker one is rather nice on that bass. Still not as good the black one of course, but still nice. 2 Quote
ezbass Posted Friday at 14:19 Posted Friday at 14:19 I’m a lover of tort, but that anodised gold looks fab! 😍 2 Quote
fretmeister Posted Friday at 14:26 Posted Friday at 14:26 I think I might need to investigate darker torts. Great - another thread that will cost me money. Thanks a bunch! 1 2 Quote

Bassassin Posted Friday at 17:05 Posted Friday at 17:05 Gold or red pearl for me. Bit sick of tort. 1 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted Friday at 17:24 Posted Friday at 17:24 Yes, the darker Tort scratch plate is the one, although I really like the anodized gold. 1 Quote
Grooverjr Posted Friday at 20:01 Posted Friday at 20:01 Gold, for sure. Looks lovely. Tort works on lighter colours but not darks. In my incredibly humble opinion of course. 1 Quote

In my incredibly humble opinion of course. Counterpoint: Tort is a lovely way of visually rooting a rosewood board in a black body - otherwise, the reddish browns of rosewood tend to clash with black finishes, imho. (And I‘m really not a big tort guy, I‘ve gone decades without it!) All that said, the gold really is on another level. 1 Quote
