Well then, with what amounts to a near runaway victory in these parts, we have a resounding outright July win for @Chiliwailer

a well supported month with some great material and a worthy winner.

With the formalities nearly complete ( I need to do the certificate) we will crack on with his choice of inspiration for us ...

"It's summer, and if it were possible I know where I'd rather be right now.... I hope you all also find this image of trekking in Yellowstone Park inspiring."

Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline.

No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on

No Bagpipes, Please, I think they would get eaten by the grizzleys.

No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you..

Deadline-wise, we will go for Midnight on the 24th Augustus ... Which in reality, means an early one on the 25th , unless I'm away on my holidays!

A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be super duper smashing lovely.

Good luck, Have fun

Aaagh

first world problems and that, but…

had a couple of ideas and thought I’d hook up the phone to Reaper via the interface , but I’ve got a new phone so the pricey cable I bought doesn’t fit the new phone.

that’s ok I’ll use the old iPad …no battery , and now I realise I’ve got no ear phones / buds for the new phone !

just when I felt a masterpiece coming on aswell 🤦‍♂️

And done:

A calm folky instrumental, that seems fitting for the picture and location of it, complete with backwards intro that mirrors the mirror lake of the image  :

Solo bass, single track, 3rd take, instrumental, played on my 28.6" scale 5 string Ibanez GSRM25 Mikro Bass, tuned in G# standard tuning (as in one half step bellow the upper 4 strings of a 6 string bass in regular B standard tuning, plus a high E), recorded through my "amp-less" setup directly into my Zoom H4n handheld recorder, and only edited through a simple Wav editor.

Yellowstone Trails - I was initially aiming for a baggy folk type tune, but this somehow evolved with a slight country feel - which was a nice surprise, taking a walk down different trails.

When someone says Yellowstone I immediately think of El Capitan, which rises majestically out of Tuolumne Meadows, a mere 811 miles and two states away in Yosemite.

So here we have a bit of dub, perfect for watching the sunset from your Portaledge halfway up El Cap's most famous route, The Nose.

Bass is Sandberg, guitar a Strat, keys - various from Ableton, Iris, Kontakt, Ujam and EZ keys. Drums programmed using Ableton packs and Loopmasters sounds. Delays/reverbs etc Raum, Objeq, Dubstation 2, Kilohearts plus Phasis phaser. All rolled in Neutron 3 and Ozone 9.
