Lozz196 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 My old band Knock Off have decided to part ways with their bassist so have asked me to help them out until they get a permanent replacement. Am looking forward to it, though coaxing that old aggressive sound out is a challenge as now playing Fender JMJ Mustangs rather than Precisions for my backs sake, plus my hands can’t take that battering playing style anymore, am sure I’ll find a way though. Some good gigs lined up (Cocksparrer on May 31st in Islington being the first one up) and will be nice to catch up with a lot of people I’ve not seen since I left at end of 2019. 24 Quote

Have fun. 1 Quote

It certainly is. A lot of guys use flats on Mustangs, the JMJ comes strung with flats new but, IMO, the bass only really comes alive with a set of rounds. @Lozz196 back off some bass and low mids, not too much, just enough to keep things clear, push the mid-mids, upper mids and treble a touch, add a bit of drive, give the strings a good old tw@tting with a 2mm plectrum and you'll be a punk rock legend once again!!! 1 1 Quote

Hope you enjoy it! Although I am a bit sad that they’re no longer the world’s only band where every member is called Andy! 2 Quote

Thanks Joey, funnily enough until we got quite well known as people knew two of us were Andys but didn’t know which two I also got called Andy for a while. Kind of an honorary membership I suppose. 1 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 Well first rehearsal done and it felt like the last 5 years hadn’t happened and that I’d never left, sounded great, really tight, and the JMJ really worked - tho I had to use a thinner pick to coax some top end nastiness. Even my backing vox were to standard, which was the area I thought I might be lacking in. Overall am pretty pleased. 6 Quote
Cat Burrito Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I saw they were looking Lozz. Sounds cool. Sometimes it is nice to go back. Quote
