My son started a couple of years ago. I stopped playing but kept a couple of basses. Upon comming in from work one day I could hear a bass being played. Running upstairs I found my 16 year old son playing my Thunderbird through my trace elliot boxer combo. I was well impressed but did remove the tbird ( don't want this damaged) and gave him a squire precision I still had. He is now studying music performance at college. Has a Jackson Kellybird in trans red. He is in a band at college and has just had his first gig.

A couple of months ago, my eldest son was just starting his BTEC music course at high school, but didn't at that point play an instrument, so he needed to choose something..... Being a super cool kid, he obviously chose bass! 😅👌🥳❤️ He's just turned 15, what a great age to start! (I was 14)

I was going to sell this cool little Ibanez GAXB150, but I gifted it to him instead. 😉

Some of his best pals are on the course too, and they've got a band going already, and have been super committed, and working hard to get where they want to be. They've even got their first performance at school next week!

He's loving old school thrash metal, so we're off to see Anthrax this week too! 🤘😎

Happy times!

Such a great photo! Lovely to see your lad looking so happy with his bass, long may it continue and I wish him much fun and success in the future x

Thanks for this! He's absolutely flying with it, he spends so much time playing it's incredible! Not even a year in, and I think he'll be better than me soon 😅

Got him his first proper bass at the guitar and bass show back in March, a Dave Ellefson 5-string Jackson, and he's wanting a new bass for his 16th next month! Here we go..... #GAS

Thanks Steve, that's really kind.  They'll be touring to support the album in October/November.

Looks like they're doing well. I know The Lanes in Brizzle is a decent venue.

My daughter is off on tour next spring but I've no idea where or even with which band! I think its her shoegaze band at uni but could be the grunge band.

What are the names of the band's?  I'll look out for them.

Butane Skies

Shutterspeed

Crooked Snout

Wisdom Teeth

Frances (session bassist for solo singer)

Butane Skies is the only one with material released. They're doing really well playing festivals and moving up the stages.

Shutterspeed are getting really good support slots and Crooked Snout are headlining the second stage at a punk day festival.

Enjoyed the song and video... very much a 90's vibe and something I would picture coming on MTV or The Box back in those days. Well done to them!

And the kids' album is released today.  Shameless proud dad post!

I like that, they've got a great sound. It sounds nicely recorded and mixed as well.

I shall have a proper listen.

I quite like it, reminds of the bands in the 80's early 90's I was listening too.

Congratulations to them!

By the way, was there a CD released?

When yes, I'd like to buy it.

Never underestimate the lure of the low-end, get them whilst they`re young.

Lest they turn to the dark side. 😱

I did my best to persuade two ladies to the righteous path at my OM night on Thursday.

Thanks.  Yes, available on CD or vinyl, rough trade have it, of Jumbo or Crash in Leeds.

I thoroughly enjoyed that, I left it playing on repeat while decorating. Indie pop isn't my genre really, but as others have said, had an 80s feel, and could almost have been Blondie in a couple of places.  There were some neat turns of phrase in the lyrics, particularly in the latter songs on the album. There's some talent developing there

Available through Bandcamp, which is how I've bought the CD.
