I'm looking to pick up a used 6 string. I do like a flat neck back to front. Nothing below 18 mm spacing. I'm looking at a Yamaha TRB1006 as I used to own a TRB6ll and it was amazing but other suggestions are welcome. Does anyone own a 1006?  What are your thoughts on it.

I bought a TRB1006J and it has become pretty much my go-to bass. I also have several Japanese Soundgears and I think the quality is up there. The Yamaha's wide neck and flat (40") radius is amazing—I think there is a reason why they are an industry standard!

Cort A6 was my favourite, but I think the string spacing is tighter than a Yammy.

It's 17mm. The A6 or a BTB, also 17mm, were going to be my suggestions.

I'm sorry, but says who?

Anyway, back to the original question…

I have played and owned a TRB6. They’re lovely basses. I found the radius to be a little too flat for me but that’s personal.

If you can get a mid-90s Japanese version that’s the best one.

Another vote for the Cort A6, I've had a few over the years and they do punch well above their second hand price point. £350-400 or so for a decent second hand one would be a good price.

I had 2 TRB1006's and a Patitucci.

Now I play a Cort A6 with Bartolini USA electronics. Sounds better, weights half a TRB and it doen's neck dive like the TRBs I had.

Might apply more to older TRBs as they really were ubiquitous. Then again, I don't have anything more than anecdotal evidence.

The issue is trying to find something with 18mm+ string spacing for that money. Most options are 17.5mm or less.

I think the best possibility is the new Squier 6 string Jazz. It's 18mm and 34" Scale.

From the Fender site:

6-saddle bass bridge, 17mm string spacing

Excellent idea, but they are 35 inches scale, just in case it might bother the OP.

Assumed he'd be ok with that as he was looking at a TRB 6er and had one previously.
