And it’s sold 🤔

Hopefully someone got a legit bargain! Wouldn’t be surprised if a vintage dealer has taken a punt although obviously wasn’t yourself…

Nope even though it’s about an hour from me. I do hope it’s legit as at that price it’s a steal for someone.

There’s one in the USA I see for just over 15k that looks like the same one

Is that one still available? I can't believe any of us thinks the $5k Middlesbrough bass is legit!

I had a bit of a play with the seller last night, here is a portion of the conversation

Is there a way to report scammers to Reverb? I couldn't see one.

If it walks like a duck, squarks like a duck, etc etc...

I did like the "Why" as if this was a wholly unreasonable request. It made me smile. You're spending $5000 and would like to check what you are buying.

Normally right at the bottom of the listing there’s a report to reverb option

I looked on the  LowEnd Bass Shop at their 64, I’m pretty sure it’s the same bass , with the wear and chipped pickguard

Yes that’s it

Tell him you're happy to pay once you have checked the bass over and wait for it to go through before taking it.

Say you'll pay once you've seen a photo of the bass with today's newspaper.

It certainly looks nice, I don’t think I’ve ever played a slab body before, with it having no contours it can’t be comfortable I’d have thought

Fender Jazz bass 1969 - burgundy mist https://reverb.com/item/94457176?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=android-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=94457176

What a poor advertisement. It's priced on the high side, probably because presumably it would have been a custom color at one point. But; custom color would have a white pickguard (and matching headstock) as far as I know!? And even then; it's a refin.

The lack of usable pictures is surprising. At this price point, you'd expect some effort..

On the side; I don't  understand the premium price dealers ask for an instrument that once had a rare custom finish but has refinished since.

Just looking through Geddy’s book and he does have some late 60s and 1970s basses in custom colours but none burgundy mist. Some had matching h/s and some didn’t so I guess it was buyers choice at that point.
