IBWT Posted May 19, 2014 Share Posted May 19, 2014 Hi guys, I've been registered for a few months but only active in the marketplace area. I'd like to contribute to the forum from now on and this seems the way to start. I'm a Spanish bass player living currently in Belfast. I've been playing bass for 13 years now and had quite a decent amount of gear over the years. Currently my main bass is a P+J Fender Road Worn Jazz Bass tuned BEAD, a MarkBass SA450 head with a Nemesis 1x15" cabinet and lots, lots of pedals. Can't beat a bit of the Empire, either upstairs or the lower room stage either which requires considerable skill as it's so small - or it used to be anyhow, I haven't been in over twelve years. It was the first place I've ever seen a singer vomit over the drummer. Quite spectacular when you saw the drummers reaction - on a tiny stage where there's room for a gnat fart and little else. It´s been a bit difficult for me these last months... different language, totally different climate and even though there´s a healthy music scene I am having some trouble searching bands to join. Back in Spain I could just go to a couple of forums and place an ad at the local rehearsal rooms and that was all, but here the forums I´ve visited are not very active and the rehearsal rooms are small and scattered all over the city. The Empire is such a lovely venue, I´m looking forward to playing there some time... been yesterday night for the Kings of Lyon and the sound and lights were top notch. Good singer/songwriter usually plays in there called Pete Wallace, some Friday/Sat nights he has bass and drums with him under the name The Russian Dolls. And sorry about the weather. It´s more the kind of pub I´m used to, I still don´t fancy the ones in Cathedral Quarter for some reason... the weather is nice, it´s just the opposite to my hometown, but I like it (they say I´m crazy for thinking that).
