Its because I'll be off to music college next year and I don't want to be lugging around heavy gear for rehearsals, small gigs and so on. My current rig is the Genz Benz 6.2 with a 2x10 and 1x15. I'm getting rid of the 1x15 because the heads quite loud with 1 cab without overpowering it. For small gigs and rehearsals its perfect. It weighs in at around 43lbs. It may be light for some but I'm looking for other 2x10 cabs that maybe a little lighter than this one. Can you narrow it down a bit as to what style you're after? Like the Focus, or different? Is the budget important? Also, does it have to be a 210? The Vanderkley 112MNT is terribly loud and weighs nothing, apart from reportedly being a fabulous cab. The 112EXT reportedly sounds even more Hi-Fi, at the cost of volume. [/quote] HI, Im looking for something with deep lows and crisp highs. If there is a tweeter control is present it would be a bonus but not what I would specifically want. Not specifically a 2x10, I only mentioned that as it;s the only size I've used, apart from the 1x15. If I had my own transport I would keep them both but thats not happening anytime soon! If you need to avoid that, then AFAIK, we're talking money. Since 750 quid is way outside your budget, my guess for the time being is that keeping the Fusion is the way forward, unless I or hopefully someone else comes up with an idea that is better. The Barefaceds, Aguilars, Bergantinos and Vanderkleys on this planet all come with a price tag. Could you do with a little MarkBass? They're voiced with personality (some hate them, but I love them) and very loud too. Also often a lot cheaper than aforementioned brands. Edit: Discreet beat me to it. Beer of the Bass Posted March 22, 2014 Share Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) I wouldn't want to carry anything bigger than a small 1x12" on a bus. I use an EA Wizzy 10 cab for bus travel, it weighs 17lbs and fits in a cajon bag along with a micro-head, but if deep lows and tweeter region highs are a priority it may not be the cab for you. It doesn't get gut-churningly deep, but it's reasonably punchy in the mid/bass region, and it goes up to around 5kHz, so it's quite clear sounding but doesn't get sizzly. [/quote] I've just bought a pair of GK Neo 112 mk2s from castlemaine of this parish, and they are astonishingly light (lighter than my now-redundant TC RS112) at about 14kg/30lbs, and each is about half the volume of a typical 4x10. If you're just using the cab for practicing why not consider downsizing to a GB110 - pretty much does everything you'll need it to and weighs the same as 3 feathers - I recently sold mine to Bob Dobly who is pleased as punch with it... I had to get them shipped from the US though, but they still worked out to be a good deal. I did try one of the GB 2x10 at Bass Direct recently when I was trying out a new bass. I've just gone for 2 x Ashdown Mi10 cabs, would be perfect for lugging around on the bus etc. but you might struggle a bit with a single cab. My setup would be one cab at home, two for gigs. As MOSCOWBASS says above, a single 10 will fart out on its own at high volumes. I believe the Mi10 cabs are based on the EA Wizzy 10. I would suggest the Ashdown Mi12 cab, but I know its one of the larger designs on the market, so probably not suited to your needs. Same goes for the Genz Benz Focus 112 unfortunately. Maybe a Schroeder 1x12? As suggested above, they are proper light, and the Mini112 is very compact. I heard a Bareface Midget at the Moffat Bass Bash, and although I've never been a fan of the look or build of the Barefaced cabs, they are constantly improving, and man alive, that Midget REALLY filled the room, I was VERY impressed with that aspect of it, oh and they are insanely light too. Might be worth checking that one of them out? For the record, that was a regular, i.e. non tweetered version and it didn't need one in my opinion. Your other options include an Aggie SL cab perhaps?
