I use a P bass but like to play both finger style & with a pick depending on the song. Go for it, you won't be dissapointed. Plus if flats don't work out for you they are easy enough to sell on. I've got my 'ray copy to sound as close to a ray as it will funds allowing with its clone preamp, and it just cuts through so much better in my band situation than my summer acquisition (4 string Yamaha BB414).
