Beer of the Bass Posted October 2, 2013 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Picato flatwounds are quite cheap. They're very smooth feeling and voiced towards the old fashioned thumpy end of things. floFC Posted October 10, 2013 Share Posted October 10, 2013 I too am surprised at how cheap the Status strings are and I am going to get some - flats, half-rounds or maybe even nylon, not sure yet. First I need to know if the string at the ball end is thin (tapered, exposed core or some such) because it needs to fit in a trapeze with rather small gaps. Arrived Sat morning, played them tonight (Sat) at the gig, very impressed all round. Not clangy but not dead, nice and light but punchy.
