SpaceChick
I'm on leave the week before that and OH and I had talked about a trip to London at the end of the week, so I may be able to stay until the Saturday and come to this. it would be without gear though, also I'd need some kind soul to give me a lift from the nearest train station probably as we usually get the train to London town rather than drive

Happy Jack
I keep hoping I'll get a stamp on my hand, and maybe a coloured wristband, but it never happens ...
Bah humbug ... grumble grumble ... sometimes you just have to get on and do it yourself ... moan moan ... whinge whinge ... I'm bringing a supply of coloured wristbands along. That way, I get a coloured wristband. I'll be damned if I'll bring along a rubber stamp and an ink-pad though. Someone else can do that. Clarky
PS, I did offer to do a practicalities of DB gear and gigging workshop on previous page (copied below) but - bar Jazzneck - have had no response to this. Its fine if there's no interest but please let me know either way
I could potentially do a 15/20-ish minute workshop on "Practical considerations when moving to double bass, gear needs and solving on-stage difficulties" or such like? Would this be of interest? I warn I am still basically rubbish and a blagger at DB but I have done a fair amount of gigging and know the practical issues, so this may be of value to some considering taking the plunge

51m0n
I have a DB in the house that I cant play (Plux does, very occasionally these days), would be interested in any kind of a starter, its a fantastic sounding thing, and there are definitely places Id like to be able to knock out a hip hop style banging b-line on the big bass
Clarky
For the avoidance of doubt, I wouldn't even begin to advertise the workshop as technique-related (I can't bow for example, I just do pizz and there are tons better DB players than me, including proper pros like Jakenewmanbass, Roger/bassace and Mr Bassman/Keith - by comparison I am Sid Vicious) I was thinking about just talking people through the practicalities of gear choice, how to amplify, how to solve onstage problems (feedback etc). Basically what you need to start gigging DB as an electric bass player
Silvia Bluejay
Perfectly fine by me, for one! Even a lefty girl can dream (just dream) of a real DB, can she?

Silvia Bluejay
Yay! Fellow lefty incoming! Will take the Godman acoustic then. I prefer it to my other acoustic, because it's short scale and smaller! So it only looks 1.5 times bigger than me, as opposed to 2.0 as in the Harley Benton's case I may take the Rockbass Fortress 5 too, depending on space and the amount of Happy Jack's patience available at the moment Edited August 6, 2013 by bluejay
