I think the lack of ego, the giving nature of the job ensures that certain types of people stick with and it seems in large measure that they are good people. So a big +1 for the OP. Rhythm sections are usually the most amenable part of a band! And a big "+1" to the BC goodness. To really see how[i] terrible[/i] this place is, just try going to a BassBash... Nothing but goodness! Anyway, I'm back from the land of the burger and have been spending a lot of time cuddling my bass, gosh how I missed it. And yes Basschat is full of good people, it's a great place to be. It's so refreshing to find an online community that isn't full of people bitching at each other or going out of their way to bait other posters. There's none of this 'anti-noob' culture, where longer standing members go out of their way to exclude newer members and be as cliquey as possible. That really seems to be the flavour of most forums, regardless of their theme.
