In my jamiroquai phase at the moment and realising how good stuart zender was and I love his sound!

I NEED a warwick!
Anything like a corvette, steamer or a rockbass the cheaper the better :). Something slightly better around the £500 mark would be ideal,

What do people think of these basses? The different models and options

What's the difference sonically and performance between a passive and active warwick?

Aye, I've heard the new Rockbasses are good, but if you spend a wee bit more you'll pick up a Stage 1 or 2. They go for about a grand second hand. There's a guy selling a beautiful Stage 1 on here for £750, but there's a potential problem with the neck.

I've got a German '05 Streamer Stage 1, J/P setup. Only had it about 3 months and I'm loving it. I had an '05 Corvette before. It was passive and the body wasn't shaped like the Streamer. The streamer is so far ahead!

I've also seen the Rockbass models. The bodies are flat and really much "cheaper" to look at. I know the ache to get your hands on one, but it you can, try to pick up a s/hand "real" Streamer.

BTW there's a corvette here for sale:

and another... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197115-fs-warwick-fortress-1995-honey-violin-new-condition/

Try and hold out for a decent secondhand SS1 or the bolt on LX which IMO is a better slapper if thats your thing. The older LX's with the wenge necks being very nice and easy to play as they have a slim and comfortable neck very much like the vintage Streamers.

This. Especially if you're going through a Jamiroquai phase, Zenders sound is all about the Streamer. Corvettes are great basses, but tonally they're very different from a Streamer.

Was about to post that!

It is a Pro-Series Korean built bass but trust me, these are killer and for that price you are getting an incredible bass.

I agree, these basses seem incredible for the money! I love the finish on that one too :)

Managed to secure a German corvette passive, needs a bit of work cosmetically, but I'm going to sort that and fit a 2 band eq too :)

Excited!

My s/h Rockbass Corvette 4 is my bass to go. Well built, lightweight, stays in tune, easy to play. One criticism, weak pickups - in comparison to G&L USA and Kramer USA. It was cheap as chips and the build quality is superb. s/h 5 stringer Rockbass fretless is even better built, ebony fingerboard :) staggering build quality for the money, cheaper than chips. A good set of strings costs 30% of these basses, the world is nuts.

Corvettes can do a pretty decent job at the Zender tone tbh. I think you will love it.
A Stage 1 however has a bit of a rumbling growl that makes it sit in the mix quite differently then other Warwicks.
Zender's bass was a Stage2 with Stage 1 woods if I remember correctly.

Check out this Corvette clip while waiting for it to arrive...

Great tone! (until she picks up the jazz bass that is).
