Clarky
Rattlin Bone are rehearsing up some new songs on Sunday and it would be great if I could record them and send them on as mp3's to the rest of the band (would help me practising between rehearsals too). Does anyone have a recommendation for a compact, relatively cheap, technocretin-friendly recording device for use at rehearsals/gigs? Cheers in advance PS, I did have one (Roland I think) that I got off BassChat's yorick (Nige) a year or two back but that was 'borrowed' by the guitarist in my old band and never seen again Edited September 21, 2011 by Clarky
51m0n
Zoom H1 or H2 Tip top for that they are...
Clarky
Thanks Simon - will check them out Edit: the H2 looks good (and Happy Jack recorded something for me using one the other day) so i have ordered one. Gracias! Edited September 21, 2011 by Clarky
lozbass
I'd recommend the Zoom H2 too - stupidly easy to use (fortunately). Recording results are great with front and rear (and all) mic options. The only downsides I've found are fiddly file allocation, and a somewhat flimsy, plastic casing. For the price, an excellent bit of gear
Clarky
Thanks Loz, I am relying on it being technogumbie-proof as I am a numpty with electronics!!!!
Shambo
I use a H1 to good effect. Just remember to turn off the auto level and set the recording level manually.
Bankai
Recommendation here for the Q3HD if you want the same but with the addition of HD quality video!
wateroftyne
Another recommendation for the Zoom H2... love mine.
Oopsdabassist
Yup we have H2 as well, great bit of kit other than screen is too small and I cant read it without me specs!, would add a sound link but I have no idea how!
skidder652003
Yep, H2 is brill. You can hear it in action at our gigs here.. www.lemonrock.com/archive not bad for such a simple and quick setup
Booooooom
+1 for the H2 - brilliant!
Clarky
Thanks chaps, looks like I made the right choice! The H2 should be with me on Friday
moonbass
I have a H2 as well (and it's great) but for a really simple solution try the voice memo recorder on an iPhone. I've got some surprisingly good results at rehearsals!
Oopsdabassist
Ha! good point, we've done that as well, until we got the H2. even posted up some clips on myspace using iPhone recordings.
dave_bass5
Thanks chaps, looks like I made the right choice! The H2 should be with me on Friday
If it doesn't arrive tomorrow you're welcome to borrow my Edirol R-09HR. After looking around for something simple to record our gigs from the stage i found the Edirol to be ideal. It comes with a remote control, has a large flashing record button on the front and straps to my singers mic stand so we get a good stereo recording. It doesnt offer many bells and whistles but it does the job.
