  1. I was tempted first time around... it still looks great.
  2. Perhaps this is the sort of thing I'd have liked... if I had the readies. Not too big and attractive enough to grace most rooms. Is it ultimate enough though?
  3. I like both of them, I've been eying the CTM drophead in the classifieds...but they might just be a touch overkill for a living/bed room noodle-along... for me.
  4. 'scuse my ignorance, but what is a 'Basschat Micro Bass Cab'?
  5. Dude. That is an impressive pedalboard. No good for my bedroom though... I'd fall over it when I woke up in the night for a piss.
  6. What do you plug your bass into?
  7. Small, vintage'ish looking, wood stain, doubles as a side table... who could object. Love it.
  8. I was wondering what the good peoples of Basschat's ultimate bedroom practice rig would be? Well not bedroom exactly, as bonus points would be given for looking good on display in the living room, but in the sense that it's never expected (or loud enough) to be gigged and doesn't take up too much space. 4x12" need not apply. Personally, I'd be noodling along on a precision with flats to anything that takes my fancy, so perhaps something like an Ampeg PF-20T and a tall skinny unknown type of cab for me. What about you?
  9. That reminds me of possibly the worst service I ever got. I booked a full service & MOT at my local Kwik-Fit. Three months in advance to coincide with a week off I'd booked to do some life laundry. At 10am I parked my Fiesta out front and went in to reception to ask for said service & MOT and the chap behind the counter immediately proclaimed that "we don't do servicing here 'cause we don't have a servicing engineer". OK I thought, that's a bit crap. You took my money and you had plenty of time to warn me. Perhaps they quit recently? I don't know, but I'll still needed an MOT regardless. "Yeah, the thing is, the MOT tester hasn't turned up yet either. You can leave your car and see if they turn up in a bit. I'll give you a ring if they don't". Reluctantly I agreed, left my keys and went to hop on a bus. Half an hour later on said bus, they called to tell me the MOT tester had rang in sick, so I should fetch my car. I got on the next bus back and went back into reception. Chap behind the counter booked another MOT for 10am two days later. I pulled up two days later and the whole building was still locked up. I approached the car out front and inside were two young lads in kwik-fit shirts smoking a joint and giggling. "Yeah mate. The fella with the keys hasn't turned up again" I drove home defeated and rang Kwik-Fit customer services to tell them my whole sorry story. Thing is, they immediately apologised profusely, booked me in for the service and MOT at another Kwik Fit on the other side of the city and gave me a partial refund. The other place did a great job and turned it round in two days (my car failed and needed two new rear suspension springs which they fitted free of charge). That's when I learned that all Kwik-Fit's are not created equally. Some are good and some are beyond bad. They don't make my sh*t list created from my own hubris, but they're on a different list of companies that I can't trust.
  10. Not musically related either but Tesco and Sainsburys. Two-tier pricing? Pay more if I don't sign up to Clubcard/Nectar? No thanks. I'll buy my groceries somewhere else. In fact, I won't sign up for anything with a reward app. Get your tenth coffee free? A free sausage roll? Nah, I'll pass. Also Currys. About twenty years ago I went into a Dixons store to buy a laptop. They asked me at the counter for my name and address. When I declined they insisted I must provide my address, so I told them I'll just spend my money elsewhere... which changed their minds and they sold me the laptop, without extended warranty and me giving them my personal details. The next week I started receiving junk email, special offers and extended warranty offers, addressed to me, from Dixons/Currys/Carphone Warehouse group... they had to have taken my personal details from the debit card I used to buy the laptop and updated their marketing lists regardless. So now, I won't ever buy from them again.
  11. I want the modern updated look alike of my first decent bass, a heavyweight 1975 Jazz bass. A Fender Pro II Jazz in black with a rosewood board, blocks and binding, weighing around 8 1/2 lb.... but I can't pay custom shop money.
  12. Agreed. I don't need a second P either, but this is a tempting price. I'm waiting it out for a Jazz of similar ilk. GLWTS.
  13. I once had a sweaty nightmare that I was driving around a 3TSB Austin Metro. I woke up with an unswerving dislike for burst finishes of all types. I mocked up said jalopy in an unsuccessful attempt to confront my fears.
  14. I think this used to be mine. It's a really well put together bass and great fun to play. I kinda regret letting it go. GLWTS

  16. That looks fabulous. I'm a sucker for a Jazz with rosewood. blocks and binding. Did you use 4 bolts in the neck?
  17. I had a custom pickguard for a Jap Jazz made here and had no complaints. https://jacksinstrumentservices.com/index.html
  18. Quite surprised this hasn't been snapped up yet. I've only got room for one Precision in my stable and that's taken so.... GLWTS.
  19. I used to buy and sell a lot on eBay, but gave up about fifteen years ago. You have to deal with the usual cross section of weirdo's, chancers and increasingly fraudsters, but that difficulty was compounded by eBay offering poor service for sellers whilst charging more and more. They held the monopoly on internet second hand selling and leveraged that to hike up fees, remove buyer feedback and skew search results for more profit. Their fall from grace is well documented across the internet. These days I'd sooner go without or give something away than use eBay.

    Schnozzalee

Bought a guitar from Schnozzalee in a swift and painless transaction. Good comms. Boxed double fresh. As described. Thanks Oli. Hope to deal with you again sometime.
  21. I'd rock one of those any day of the week. Very tempting.
  22. I got a preloved maple boarded one like this a couple of years ago, and quickly came to the conclusion it's my favourite bass I've ever owned, (over 30 years and many basses). GLWTS.
  23. Bought a strap from Christian. Super fast response and despatch. Very happy. Many thanks.
