I'm getting quite obsessed with these two basses;

It just shows there's still a bit of room for creativity - they're close enough to Fenders to look comfortable and familiar to play yet far enough away to not be yet another clone.

Now if I could just have the Godin body with the Rob allen pickups and bridge....

Godin looks cack to me,but i like the solid 4 apart from the bridge and pickup colour.

Nah the solid 4 is much nicer. The proportions are very sympathetic to the design.

Looking at the Rob Allen reminds me that plenty of 60's basses had those solid alloy bridges ... and crap intonation to go with it.

The pickup really doesn't look like a comfortable place to rest your thumb either.

Correctly installed that bridge will give you no problems at all. But yeah Diff'rent Strokes.

Yeah, I'm just gettin up off the floor now. That said it's hand made and everything important like the bridge and pickup are unique to it and you couldn't say that about a [url="http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-custom-shop-pino-palladino-precision-bass/2227"]Custom Shop Precision[/url]. The Godin is actually pretty good value for money considering it's North American made, especially considering some Chinese made guit#rs are approaching the 'Holy Grand' now.

Plus getting it here and roughly 22% on Vat and duty. You would need to be keen. I am however sure it is beautifully made.

The Solid 4 looks majestic. I do like the controls at the bridge - keeps the rest of the body looking clean. Not on my wages, sadly - wish I hadn't looked at it now!

The Godin is interesting and I've had a Godin before they make nice basses, but they only do that one in rubbish colours.

I have to say I'm really not into either of those, and would much rather have the Pedulla. Then again, for the money the Godin goes for, I'd rather save the difference and have a Sei, Goodfellow or another Shuker made. By the time you've factured in all the extras like VAT, import duty, etc, The locally built basses would probably work out cheaper, look much nicer, and be to my own spec (whatever I chose), so that would get my vote.

Still though, as mentioned, each to their own, and if you like it, who's to tell you its not worth it?
