Nice bass. I think it maybe one of the "Foto-Flame" basses. It's not real flammed wood but a "photo" of flammed wood, stuck to the body and painted, then lacquered over.

late 70's - the paintwork has gone that mottled colour on the sides like a lot of the black ones did - is yours the same?

I've got a late 70's (black/black/rosewood) which hasn't done that but my friend bought a near immaculate 79 and nearly before our eyes as we took it out of the case, the bottom of the body started turning that milky blue colour. Days later the finish started to get the familiar hair line cracks. Very weird, would love to know what causes that reaction.

No. Mines like new which actually annoys me, i really want the arm contour to wear a little bit. I think they look amazing with a little wood visible on the arm contour but then im just wierd like that :)
You'll like mine then! I'll try and get a pic up this weekend

I love the green one, don't see that colour often.

Edit: the quote isn't pulling through Gareth's picture

Lovely collection!
Please can you give us the lowdown on all the years and colour names please ?
I love 'em :)
the pink and green ones are 1974 and 1975 and are both refinishes, the others are all late 70's p's - the red, white and capri are international colours
