1. Thats what i thought, the added bonus is that its from the same year he was born so a little sentimental touch too. My wife bought me an aluminium necked Applause acoustic from 75 for my 40th last year and i love it as much for the age reason as its playability
2. HI Guys n Gals Im looking at getting my son a new bass for his 18th in Jan and have found a 1999 ( birth year ) American Deluxe Jazz 5. Hes played a 98 Mex Jazz 5 and loved it, so that box is ticked. My question is, ive not bought anything this level before and wonder if £995 is a fair price. Its in real good condition and comes cased. Any help would be massively appreciated
3. Just been looking at the Genz Benz stuff as its not something i had any real knowledge of.....wow....sound ace and at £320 tops for the 2x10 perfect for what hes gonna do, add a 1x15 under it eventually and cant see him really needing anything else
4. Guys n Gals, Im fairly new to buying gear thats decent before as ive always bought what i can afford and thats been the deciding factor. My 15yr old has just started platying in a band and is going to be gigging soon, now my ashdown practice amp isnt going to be enough and im looking at getting him some new stuff for xmas. Im looking for a decent but smallish head, and cab wise either 2x10 or 1x15 ( with a view to buying the other when i can ) I dont live near a large dealer so trialling a few bits is gonna be a good 90 min trek minimum, with this in mind i may bite the bullet and internet order. I have been looking at TC Electronic BH250, Ampeg Portaflex PF 350, Mark Bass Blackline 250 or maybe even the 450w behringer. Does anyone have any views ( and i know its can of worms time ) at which would be the best way to go
5. I will check with the good lady and see how my pocket money is, Im new to modding basses or anything guitar wise but i think this could be a good adition to a Stingray copy im mid build on
6. I was just going to ask the same question Shippo, i emailed Fender in American to find out a little more about these and apparently they cant tell me much as the Japanese made them without the fotoflame necks that they should have had and put 57 RI's on them. Mines identical to this and the only other one that i knew of is a guy in Hungary i beleive who contacted me when i first asked for info on mine
7. Sure ive not put pics of mine in here, if i have oooopps My first Bass and the one that made me want to start playing a year or so ago. 94 Jap, 57 RI neck and thats about all even Fender USA can tell me about it, not an official model from what i can gather but all the numbers etc match up :-)
8. Got a battery box here, gonna try and fit it this weekend
9. Guys, Im a relative noob to playing and bass in general, but am loving the journey already. Ive started to refurb a cheap shine stingray copy that i bought and am planning on turning it active as i had a battery box lying round doing nothing. Ive been looking at pickups and have seen the EMG MMTW and quite like the idea that its a MM and Jazz pick up in one. Has anyone any experience of this one and if so whats your view? Will i need anything else other than the wiring that comes with it Fankos Muchos Peeps
10. Seafoam green is definately a go!! Battery box has been ordered and will be in this weekend, and i think im going to go for an EMG MMTW pickup ( MM and Jazz in one apparently ) - id really appreciate any information on this pup if anyones used it before
11. Yeah ive got a lovely 94 Jap Precision as my fave one, this was just a cheap practice one - cost me £50 and i think even with the Nitro, Pickguard and bits its going to cost me £150 including the original price. Paint to be ordered tomorrow - but still trying to way up Fiesta Red or Seafoam Green
12. Hi Guys n Gals Im fairly new to playing etc, but the bug has well and truly bitten. Woke up this morning and after a late night loading a show out decided i wanted something to plod with today. Coffee and screwdriver in hand my Shine Stingray was being attacked and mercy was not going to be shown. Ive formulated a basic plan for the rebuild and its going to hopefully go something like this... Sand back to bare wood and build up from primer, bass coat, top coat and lacquer ( 8 coats flatted back between each colour coat ). Im going to put a red/brown tort pickguard on and paint the body Seafoam Green. Id like to go active on it as soon as money allows so will be routing a battery box into the back ready whilst ive got the paint off. Im not sure what to electrics/pickup wise as im a newbie so any advice on that would be massively appreciated. Ive added a few pics of the progress so far and will be adding as and when i manage to get more done. Id like it back together in some way for end of April..... Wondered about doing a roadworn style to it hence the sanding bits, but not 100% set on that yet As you can see the nut came out as i was de stringing, is there much benefit to adding a graphite nut whilst its apart, found them for £10 ish? THanks for looking
13. Hi Guys, Not been playing long and bought this on a bit of a whim. Its as near as damn it mint, boxed with instructions and Gator Bag for it. Its got some awesome sounds on it but im just not using it so it must go. Im after 150.00 for it posted to mainland UK or would swap for a decent multi input USB module... I can get pics if anyone wants but im sure everyone knows what one looks like. May be easier to text as im working loads at the min 07972 228837 Cheers Ed
14. Reet, back off honeymoon and gonna get started on this now. Been looking at colours and going to go for an off white so its already got that aged kinda look. Found this pic and fell in lust..... Does anyone know if they make a pickguard that shape etc for a 4 string and if so where id be able to get one? Or where i can get one made....? As money becomes available im going to swap the pup for an EMG MMTW, but going to get the router out and cut the battery box in now whilst its in pieces.... Will get some pics up later
15. Hi Guys N Gals Ive just picked up a Shine Stingray copy for £60 in pretty damn near mint condition baring the odd small ding. Ive got it mainly as a project as i want to do a colour change and maybe pickup. Before i start pulling it apart i have a couple of questions. 1 - Whats the best type of paint to use?? Im fairly ok with getting it painted as my dad sprayed cars for 40 years so its going to take care of the application. 2 - Where can i get custom pickguards made?? Im thinking of if i paint the body black going for a Black/Gold/Black 3 ply. Im sure there will be more and ill post pics up when i pick it up next week Thanks Muchos
16. Cheers Doctor, thats exactly what im thinking of
17. Hi Guys Ive just been offered a Shine Stingray copy thats a bit marked, but solid. I was just going to re-colour it, but now im thinking maybe take it a bit further. Id like to put Jazz Pickups in it, and was wondering if anyone had any pics of similar? Also, how would i go about having the body re routed for the pups, anyone on here that would be recommended? THanks in anticipation
18. Id like first dibs on the TU2, but wouldnt mind seeing a pic before payment if thats possible.
19. My first bass and I just love her - can't wait to be able to do her justice
20. Bumparoo Would consider trades now for bass parts as I fancy a build.....jazz or mm style body etc
21. Anyone?? Would be interested in a trade for a boss gt6b or bass pod pro ( may put some into the deal for the pod )
22. Just bought an Ashdown mini rig from Sam, top deal, perfectly as described and a nice bloke - would definitely buy from again without hesitation
