Fantastic collection...but the lack of strings on the '56 is bothering me! Please explain....
[/quote]

Bassbod, apologies, i didnt mean to set people's OCD's off, I have enough of those myself !! :unsure: I hope it hasn't caused you too many sleepless nights! ;)

I took it apart for some close-ups pictures of the parts, for a magazing article i've been helping with, and didn't have any spare strings when i hung them all up.

Here it is, back together, the covers are also back on the '52 now, so you can rest at ease now that everyones fully clothed! :)

Rick.

i offered the guy my 77 and a kiss on the cheek...

He said 'Er...'

It's not that it's that much better, but there really is something special about the age of the instrument, and the fact that it's fully functioning (and playing/sounding fantastically well).

It's certainly proved the point that a nice old Vintage Fender is just that - A really nice old thing.

My Custom shop 64 Jazz had a lot of the 'old' feel and quality wood bang on, and none of the potential issues. My 77 is worth less than my Car, but still has a nice age and feel and appearance.

Anyhow - Mine Is lovely and a 60/61/62 will come when I can afford it and find a good one...

Here's mine! Firstly, my '74 Sunburst. I bought this back in either '84 or '85 from WAM Music in St Neots for £135.

Secondly, my Squier precision Special. I bought this a few years ago from Cash Converters, Huntingdon, for £29. The sign said 'electrics not working'. Yeah, well superglue and blu-tac aren't the first choice for solder replacements! I had to buy some new pots, knobs, a new scratchplate (someone had painted the original matt black. Badly), a new set of strings and had to tweak the truss rod as the previous owner had slackened it off completely. Plays nicely now and has a very appealing scooped tone.

My two;

I love the 51RI to bits, but i still kinda miss playing the Squier, got a bit more thump to it and i guess it's kinda sentimental being my first bass/ first new guitar i ever got n' all. I'm in two minds whether to keep it or sell it, but for what they're worth second hand i may as well hold onto it. We'll see...

51 might get treated to a new bridge soon, but for now i'm far too busy being poor!

Lakland Bob Glaub with the fralin pickup. Best P I've ever owned and I've had a few. I know it's not a fender, but I don't care!
