Tell you what I have been playing for years and only get those moments every now and then , but know what you mean , feels so good , just wish it would happen more when playing live !
We are a gigging 4 piece covers band ( five when we get a new guitarist ) playing stuff like led zep , rhcp, cream , the who ,foo fighters etc looking for a 2nd guitarist , we gig on average once or twice a month. We are based in the liskeard area .
I can remember playing a us air base on the Azores and no advertising had been done before we flew in, literally just the bar tender and us alone in this pretty big club ! We played and then next day went round the base handing ut flyers for another gig 2 days later , when we played this one it was packed and they wouldnt let us buy a drink all night also thy had a BBQ which started about 1.30 am! Needless to say it was a late night !

I strongly disagree.
(Bob Dylan sometimes *chooses* not to sing, but he can)

A lot of people think morrisey can't sing , I strongly disagree , just listen to songs like back to the old house ,
I got a rv4 Ricky lookalike a while back , my particular one needed a good going over ,things like sharp edges on the fret wires, cheap toggle switch , other than that it was ok

+ 1. And acts that don't tour very often and sell out quickly when they do.
Looking at you, Rolling Stones...

Maybe the shows that go on these days take a lot more funding , thinking of the Kyle monague thing where she had a whole water show thing going on on the stage , must of cost loadsto put on ! Saying that I do still think prices are too high
Beth ditto seems to have done ok for herself , also my new fave band alabama shakes has a big boned bass player who IMO fits the bill a treat and Whitney the singer is not the too skinny either !
I have a roadstar and it is a lovely bass , had it since 1988 and the only one I would never sell ! Mine is different from this with Sopebar pickups though , if this is anything like mine in build quility ,sound and playability it's a bargain ! And am sure it is
Yep £250 for a pub seems to be about the rate , we are only getting £450 on new years eve in a pub local to us in Cornwall and we are a five piece so come away with less than £100 pp

I think £300 for a band and a DJ is getting both on mates rates. Am sure if each were booked independently, and she didn`t know anyone in either, the bill would be considerably more.

My feelings too

If your guitarist had approached you saying "I'm dj-ing at a party, can we do an hour spot for mates rates?" Would you have thought differently? Also your guitarist knew the arrangement and said nowt? Does you band gig regularly? Are you missing out on a full fee gig to do this? Is the rest of your band going to be sat twiddling thumbs in front of Casualty when you could be "practicing" for little more than petrol money?
Point is you're entitled to rant but it's not a black/white situation. Talk to your DJ guitarist and the party organiser and come to a compromise :-)

Well our guitarist didn't need to tell us what he was doing As she approached us on the band site not through him ! No don't think I would of felt differently if he had approached us asking for the favour , I only get every other weekend off work so they are precious these days !
